One of the better locations in the valley. Plenty of seating. Friendly staff. Seemed like they forgot to add the salt when making the salsa fresca on the day we went, but that was easily remedied and was a reminder that they make it fresh daily. 😆

Food was amazing. The tostada was a big serve but the bowl was a little on the small side. Very fresh and extremely tasty. Will definitely come again if I am visiting SLC

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but today’s experience at Cafe Rio was genuinely upsetting — enough that I feel compelled to say something.
The portions were shockingly stingy — noticeably smaller than usual — and it was disappointing to see how carelessly our food was prepared. But what really crossed the line was the way my sister was treated. The staff had a visible attitude throughout our interaction, and the way they tossed the sauces across the counter toward the register felt downright disrespectful. It wasn’t just unprofessional — it was rude.
What should’ve been a simple, enjoyable meal ended up hurting my sister’s feelings. She left feeling small, disrespected, and unwelcome. That’s not something you expect from any restaurant, let alone one we’ve supported for years.
Needless to say, we won’t be coming back. That kind of energy — cold, dismissive, and careless — has no place in customer service. A truly disappointing experience from start to finish.

Love this location over some of the others since nice staff! However feel like the chain is a little stingy with soar cream since usually not a lot and there’s an up charge when I usually just get a steak and cheese quesadilla
20 dollar meal and they gave me barely any steak, asked for double steak and she added two small pieces, not worth it at all
Super helpful and kind! Food tasted amazing!! Very clean environment too.

This is by far the worst fast food joint I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a ton of cafe rios and costa vida the costa vida in this plaza is 100% better then this cafe rio. I may have gotten a bad server maybe but the costa vida proportions were legit 3-4x the amount when it came to the meat and important stuff plus the staff at the costa Vida was actually pleasant the cafe rio worker actually seemed to have found me annoying as hell for even showing up it was middle of the day for both experiences so both stores were almost completely empty.

The food was pretty good and plenty of it (except not much chicken) so the value was OK. I'm not a local so I was really confused on how to pick up my order and there was no instructions on their website.

I love cafe rio but this is the worst location I’ve ever been to. Unless you love rice and bean salad go somewhere else, all these other reviews are spot on these guys don’t care and skimp on everything. Felt like an airport restaurant

Great food, quick service and cheering ambience. Located inside City Creek Mall. Good vegetarian options available here.
