we tried Eiko Cafe SLC (1234 S Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City) and were so excited to try authentic Chinese food. they have your typical orange chicken and chow mein available, but we went for the boiled fish filet with pickled cabbage (left) and west lake beef soup (right). the fish dish was spicy, tender, savory and also had a slight numbing effect of the Sichuan peppercorn (yum!). the beef soup was the best thing to have on this snowy and wet day. our waitress introduced herself...

Great experience. Portions were huge and each dish was delicious. Some of the better beef teriyaki we have ever . The Eiko combination was a good deal with plenty of leftovers. We will be back to try other dishes.

Don't be fooled by it's location in a strip mall. The food is some of the best original-tasting Chinese food in town. Dishes that are supposed to be prepared with white meat are prepared that way unlike many Chinese restaurants that use the random dark, spongy alternative. The owners are wonderful and the service is exceptional. The portions are large. Enough for 2-3 meals for most people. I'm so glad a friend recommended this place!
