Handel's Homemade Ice Cream - East Millcreek

I have never left a negative review before but just loaded my kids into my car to leave the store in disbelief at the treatment by the evening crew 8/8. The young ladies were rude, snappy, and impatient. No greeting when we entered and a poor look when we asked if we could order and were met with “what do you want?” and one snapped at one child to not touch a sign. Almost as if as a group they were all peeved (but happily giggling and conversing with one another). One cone was forgotten and when we reentered to ask for it the eyes were actually rolled by of the older girls and she handed it to us without any words exchanged at all. Ice Cream and facility great but the employees made it a very obvious negative experience and one worth making a review one.

Love the layout and feel of this place. No glass freezers with people crowding in to see the flavors. Nice uncomplicated menu on the wall listing their MANY wonderful flavors. One of my favorites is the sampler with four scoops in a clear clamshell takehome.

Worst Handels in Utah. Don’t waste your money at this location. Their ice cream sucks and their employees are always in a bad mood. Go to the fort union or sandy location to get the best Handels experience.

I actually enjoy coming here until I met Olive, who clearly needs to be retrained and learn manners. She skipped us a couple times, which confused her coworkers of thinking we were being helped by her, and then I had to ask to take my order after the third guest behind us was asked to take their order before us. Then, it was our turn to pay and Olive had rang up the last two customers, but when it was our turn she decided to walk away from the cash register while her two coworkers finished our orders for her. We waited at the register for 3 minutes while she watched from the back door holding a mop or broom being completely useless because she was just standing there holding it pretending like she didn’t know we were expecting to pay. Either she has a problem helping people of color or she’s a completely incompetent and careless employee, which you could tell by her appearance. I worked 10 hours in the hospital where I manage (and would honestly write up my employees for behavior like Olive’s), went to remodel our home we just bought for a few hours, and all I wanted was ice cream. Thank you for the unpleasant visit, Olive.

I went to this place today for some yummy homemade ice cream with the kiddos I was nannying! They loved blue monster ice cream flavor and the staff were so friendly!

I showed up minutes before closing last night and Abbey was super nice about it. I was very impressed! I felt bad and appreciated her being chill about it because I had been craving an Horchata shake all day! It was delicious as usual.
