Hires has been a staple of the community here since 1959 and the food is every bit as good as you would think it would be. It's also quite cool on the inside because there's an up and down that you're not quite expecting.
They use an old car hop system which is kind of funny cuz some cars can't turn off their headlights but you need to have your headlights on to be ready to order but if you can't turn your headlights off then they think you're...

Shocked by the expense! My family of 3 went back to Hires after 15 years. We were disappointed by the loud interior, but delighted by the delicious food. Sadly the entire experience was tainted when the check came and we paid over $80 for 3 people to eat.
I miss the days when Hires was affordable for a family.

The food was great. However the older woman that seated us sure seemed annoyed at questions and rude. It might just be the way she talks but it was bad enough that my husband never wants to Come back. Mind you my husband very rarely gets mad. So your hostess is pretty bad.
