I come here almost everyday and I’m soooo sad they got rid of their tall iced coffees. It sounds dramatic but I really don’t want 16oz of a latte :( The prices have also been going uppppp.
I enjoy the coffee, but this is by far the most aggressive place for asking to leave a tip. We paid cash, and had over $2 change left, but instead of just giving the cash back, like every other establishment I’ve ever been to, the staff asked if we wanted our change back. My husband responded, “yes that would be great” and she said “great thanks” and walked away before we could correct her. Great coffee, but tipping pressure is uncomfortable. I love Java Jo’s and the baristas are so friendly and polite. However, their policy is to ask directly if you’d like to leave them a tip.
If tipping is that essential to the staff’s income, the business should pay a fairer wage instead of passing that burden onto customers through pressure. I don’t think it’s ethical to imply I should tip for a 10-second coffee handoff when the actual service involved is minimal....
