This place was simply heavenly. I’ve never had better pasta in the states other than in Italy. The fusion of flavors was just so incredibly innovative and original. The blend between the two cultures of Italian and Japanese cuisine hit the mark across the board. The service was phenomenal and I can’t wait to go back to try other dishes.

Creative menu, exciting fusion. Tried 7 items and loved 6. The other one was still good. Stuffed zucchini flowers were an excellent example of perfect tempura.

Antipasto - glazed maitake
A welcome return to a previous experience, the glazed maitake keeps one foot in and out of the pool. Cured mushrooms with a fishy umami glaze sharply contrast a light and airy garlic potato foam. While you're tempted to focus on the main attraction, don't neglect the potatoes, as gravity will step back in to reclaim the volume. The opposing flavors serve well the particular wine drinker, as there is a flavor on the plate for a glass of red or white.
Primi - ravioli with shortribs, brown butter, yuzu
A theme of opposites continues, with savory short rib meat in an appropriately starchy ravioli meeting the creamy acidity of a yuzu crema. As with the maitake, the marriage of opposing flavors allows room for a variety of pairings, and the brown butter keeps the crema from overpowering the main attraction.
Secondi - A5 Wagyu
As a lifelong resident of the barely-urban parts of the prairie, supply chains don't always afford my home with the same culinary opportunity as larger venues. As such, it was a pleasant surprise to see A5 Wagyu beef and sea urchin on the same bed of rice, with a variety of roe as a binder. You truly get what you pay for, and variety of flavors coalesce to great effect. Leave the chardonnay at home; the weight of this course warrants a robust, dry red.
Surprise desert (compliments of the kitchen) - matcha tiramisu with yuzu honey
No better follow up to indulgence than indulgence

My server Victoria had a clear depth of knowledge of the menu, even going as far as to ask if I had dined at Junah before, and using my previous orders as a basis for recommendation. Her recommendation of the nobile was an excellent pairing for all courses of the meal, and I was glad to have someone with clear career experience helping with the process. Additionally, while Lauren was not my server of the evening, she recognized me from my last dining experience six months prior, and that courtesy was not lost on me.
Summary
Every good thing you've heard is true. The service is phenomenal, and the creativity that goes into the menu is a breath of fresh air in an already densely packed market. The cost of a meal may be a shock to some, but the juice is well worth the squeeze in this case. Do yourself a favor and see what the hype is about.

We had to cancel our first reservation, they had an issue and had to cancel our second. A couple months later and the third time was the charm.
It was worth the wait. The meal was phenomenal. Junnah easily stands among the top restaurants we have in Utah.
Our meal highlights were the midnight burrata, Wagyu ragu, and the Cabernet poached pear was special. We made another reservation on our way home.

Fantastic, unique food here! Each dish was so flavorful and beautifully plated. Junah has a beautiful, refined atmosphere to compliment the menu.
My boyfriend and I ordered one from each antipasti, primi, secondi, and dolci section to share, which I felt was the perfect amount of food. We ordered the Glazed Maitake, Gnocchi alla Junah, Tagliata di Bosco, and the Matcha Tiramisu along with a couple glasses of Italian wine. We loved everything we ordered. The Maitake was texturally fun being so crisp but also so tender. The Gnocchi alla Junah was amazing, the spicy sauce was perfect and very well-balanced. The gnocchi was very soft, it could melt in your mouth but I would've preferred more bite. The Tagliata di Bosco was the standout, best thing we ordered. The Tagliata di Bosco is steak that has been marinated for three days served on a bed of mushrooms and truffle sauce. Just writing about that steak and that sauce is making wish I could have it in front me right now. The sauce was out of this world and the perfect pairing to the steak. Additionally the carrots served with the steak were prepared in the best way possible, I'm not sure what but they were crazy delicious. Our waitress claimed the steak to be cooked medium rare but it definitely came out rare but I am so not complaining I thought it was perfectly cooked for this preparation. Finally, the matcha tiramisu was so good and such a refreshing flavor. The tiramisu is served sitting on a dish so the tiramisu definitely had more structure but the ladyfinger cookies were perfectly soaked. It was one of the best tiramisus I've had in a while. Also, the pistachios on the tiramisu were killer.
We did get a reservation right at opening at the counter looking into the kitchen. There was a line of five or so couples waiting to get sat right at opening but I did see a couple open tables at 6pm. The counter seat was chic and fun to see the staff prepare the food, however it was louder than the rest of the restaurant. We did put on the reservation that it was for a birthday and our waitress did check my ID while ordering drinks and said nothing which is alright but don't expect anything special if you come for your birthday fyi lol

We were very excited to try this place out, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience and we won’t be returning. Service was definitely not locked in and staff was not familiar with the menu or specials. They told us the bread was their 72 hour sourdough, but it tasted store bought and was burnt in a toaster in front of us (we sat at the counter). We felt each dish was under-seasoned and bland, and the burrata tortellini had frozen chunks in the filling. The best thing we ate was the crudo, but even that was swimming in liquid that literally sloshed over the sides of the plate as it was placed in front of us with barely any actual pieces of ahi. All told, the meal was $150 and we didn’t feel the experience was worth the price.

I went to Junah, a James Beard–nominated restaurant, with high expectations and left feeling underwhelmed.
The concept—Japanese and Italian fusion—is genuinely interesting. Unfortunately, the execution didn’t live up to the idea. This disappointment was especially stark given that I had recently dined at Kado no Mise, a James Beard Award–winning restaurant, where the experience was night-and-day better at a similar price point.
The issues started immediately upon arrival. The host seated us at a table where the sun was directly in our faces. When we politely asked to move, he rolled his eyes and said no. We later asked our server, who accommodated us without issue. That disconnect alone felt off for a restaurant of this caliber. If sun exposure at certain tables is a known problem—and it clearly wasn’t the first time—it seems like something as simple as a window shade would prevent unnecessary friction with guests.
As for the food: while the menu claims a Japanese–Italian fusion, the balance leaned heavily toward rich, creamy, and often oversalted sauces. Any subtle Japanese flavors were largely drowned out, making it difficult to identify or appreciate the intended nuance. My dining partners shared the same impression—we found ourselves trying to “fish out” the Japanese elements rather than experiencing a harmonious blend.
There were also several small but telling details that felt neglected. The menus were held together with elastic bands, the paper wouldn’t stay in place, and they were awkward to pick up from the table. These may seem minor, but at this price level—and with a James Beard nomination—they stand out. Fine dining lives or dies on attention to detail.
To be clear, the food wasn’t bad. It was good. But it wasn’t exceptional, and it didn’t justify the hype, the price, or the expectations that come with national recognition. Between uneven service, muddled flavors, and overlooked details, Junah felt like a restaurant with an interesting idea that hasn’t yet refined its execution.
There’s potential here. It just didn’t feel fully realized.

I never complain about places, but sadly the service here is what ruined the experience for me.
My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our anniversary, which is something we always choose to splurge on. In total we spent over $250, which is no small bill. We ordered four courses and a bottle of wine to share. Our server was kind and the food was incredible, but we felt rushed through every single course.
From the time we sat down to the time we signed the check, we were there just one hour and fifteen minutes. We were not lingering. We were simply finishing the bottle of wine we had paid for. After we signed the check, our server told us we needed to leave because other guests were waiting for our table. I awkwardly said I would just chug my wine, and that is exactly what I did.
For a restaurant at this price point, being rushed out on a special occasion was really disappointing. If there is a strict time limit on tables, that should be communicated clearly upfront. We were also seated near guests who arrived before us and stayed well after we left, which made the situation even more confusing.
The food was wonderful, but unfortunately the experience overshadowed it.

Literally still thinking about the muscles! Wish they would put that sauce on a pasta dish. The vibe and warmth of the lighting in here is super cozy. One note was that the server did ask an abnormal amount of times how our food was. It was of course amazing, but could have done with 3 or 4 less asks.

I haven’t even had an opportunity to try this restaurant because the restaurant randomly cancelled my reservation i had for a Saturday evening at 5:45. I’ve had the reservation booked for a month and i randomly got an email saying the restaurant canceled my reservation! It wasn’t even Valentine’s Day weekend either. Without no explanation or helping to get us in at another time, i thought that was extremely rude and we won’t be giving them our service. Very unprofessional.

The food here is absolutely amazing. Danielle was our server and she made the visit here even better. Danielle was awesome. We had reservations for a table. The couple at the table we were waiting on were done eating and just chatting. Marco offered us to sit at the bar until they left. We accepted. We really enjoyed the bar seating. We could watch the chefs and all the servers passed by us. When the table did open up we just stayed at the bar. We liked it that much. I definitely agree with Junah winning the James Beard award.

It’s Thursday, February 11th and at 7PM I get a text that my dinner reservation for Valentine’s Day at 8PM, that I booked over a month ago, is now not only on a fixed menu (god forbid someone might have allergies, or dietary restrictions so a fixed menu won’t work for them) but it is also $100 a person. So now 3 days before Valentine’s Day, when all restaurants are booked, I have an ultimatum to pay $200 for my dinner or cancel. This is so unprofessional and so inconsiderate, and is a blatant disregard for peoples lives and plans, while the restaurant profits big time by exploiting the holiday. This was information that should have been given to their guests weeks ago so other plans could be made. Thank you for ruining my holiday.
