We usually eat here about twice a year. The last meal was underwhelming, this one was too. The shrimp tempura was soggy and the shrimp tasted old. The beef sukiyaki was good, but the meal was disappointing. We will probably try to find another Japanese restaurant in the future.
We always love Kyoto and the food is excellent, but this time our experience was very disappointing. We had a 6 pm reservation and arrived on time. We were asked to wait, then seated at about 6:10. At 7:30, the waitress asked us to leave so the next reservation could be seated. As we departed, we passed several large empty tables! We were having a lovely time catching up with our friends, but the evening was unnecessarily cut short. Not okay!!!
The food was good. My steak was a little overcooked. Not enough to send back but not the medium rare I ordered. My husband's was medium rare as ordered. Everyone can have an off night now and then so this experience will not prevent me from returning.
