Did not have a great experience. Expected it to be better on all accounts and was really looking forward to our first meal there but did not enjoy really any aspect of it - the atmosphere, service, or food.

The Whipped Bree was exceptional and the rest of the food was pretty good. Parking was extremely difficult, and we ended up circling for about ten minutes before finding a parking spot a healthy walking distance away. At the end, servers were really rushing us to get out, bringing the check before we had finished our dessert and trying to clear my half eaten dessert more than once. We weren't dining slowly but the service was slow (which was fine with us)—if they want to turn over tables faster they could start with faster food service instead.

If you like Italian food then you have to visit this restaurant in SLC! We went there twice during our 4 day stay. The service was great and so was the food! For appetizers I recommend the whipped Brie and carpaccio. The bread service was also so yummy! As for the entrees we got the risotto, brasato braised beef, truffle pasta which were 10/10. The filet Mingon was also tasty but could use a little bit less salt. Ravioli al Funghi is vegan and also tasted very fresh. As for dessert I would recommend the tiramisu! Honestly everything was flavorful 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic food made fresh and in house. All the breads and pastas paired extremely well with the appetizers and desserts, all of which were extremely well presented. The noise level in the restaurant can be a little bit louder than ideal during the peak dinner hour, but overall the atmosphere is great.

Tutto perfetto! I stopped here on a whim on my way from Montana to Arizona, and I’m so happy I did. To start, the wine list is top notch. The dishes are clearly made with dedication to the tradition of Italian cooking. The owner himself greeted me when I arrived. I sat at the bar, near the kitchen, and I could see that he was busy the whole time making sure every detail was perfect. The staff were also very attentive and knowledgeable. I am so impressed by this place and would recommend it to anyone!

While I thought that the food was tasty, it was extremely overpriced. I ordered risotto which was decent, but $34! The owner, Matteo is very kind and recommended one of the cheapest wines for $65. Again, it's decent food but way too pricey for what you get.

Food was unbelievable. From the risotto to the ravioli and a beautiful light cheesecake, we had the most amazing meal.

Our new favorite restaurant in SLC!!! Definitely some of the best Italian food we have ever had!! We traveled from Texas to dine here after reading a review and it was definitely worth it! Everything from the appetizers to the desserts were amazing. We highly recommend Matteo's and will be back!

An absolute Gem. SLC is blessed to have Matteo (and his mother!) making authentic Italian food. We got the whole spread. Not a single dirty plate at the end. I am praying for this place to never close. Please go and support.

An absolute gem. SLC is blessed to have Matteo (and his mother!) making authentic Italian food. We got the whole spread. Not a single dirty plate. We were also blessed with an appearance by Lauri Markannen. Overall an awesome time. Happy Birthday Uncle G.

My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner the other night, and we were blown away by how outstanding not only the food was, but the service as well! It's only been open for 5 months, but everything from the service to the quality of the food was smooth and well-oiled. We booked a reservation for a Monday night at 7pm, arrived a few minutes early, and were seated immediately by a very friendly host. The parking lot was full when we arrived, but there was plenty of street parking right across from the restaurant. The smells that hit you right as you walk in are incredible. I personally loved the ambiance of the restaurant and felt there was an adequate amount of space between our table/booth and others. Our server, Bruno, was amazing! He gave us the run down on the specials and he was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and quick! The host who seated us checked in mid-meal to ensure we had everything we needed and he genuinely wanted to make sure we were enjoying our food which was sweet. The bread service is $3 per person and I highly recommend it! The focaccia is thicker, yet perfectly soft and the regular bread had the same soft consistency that paired amazingly with the garlic butter spread it came with! The olives were also tasty! I particularly enjoyed dipping the bread into the oil underneath the olives for a more subtle olive taste. My husband and I got two orders of the bread, and confirmed you're only charged $3 per person once; it's not an additional $3 if you order more bread which was nice. Their Caesar salad, which we ordered without anchovies, is one of our new favorites of all time! It was extremely flavorful and came with plenty of dressing and cheese, and had an adequate amount of croutons. The croutons are smaller, which allowed them to retain a small crunch that paired satisfyingly with the creamy texture of the salad. The Polpette meatball/sausage appetizer was beyond delicious! The meatballs and sausages were seasoned to perfection with some sort of Italian seasoning or crack; either way, it was addicting. The pomodoro sauce was absolutely out of this world and couldn't have paired more perfectly with the meats! My pesto pasta was amazing! It's definitely towards the top of my list of best pestos I've tried in my lifetime. It was heavier on the basil taste, but the cheese it was coated in paired perfectly with it and toned the bitterness that can come with some pestos down to the perfect amount. I'm picky, so I ordered it without the pine nuts and got the tomatoes on the side. After trying an individual tomato, I was immediately obsessed and dumped the bowl over my pasta. The tomatoes were sweet and soaked in a flavorful oil that made perfect sense with the pesto pasta. Absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the lasagna and said it's definitely one of his favorites of all time. He said the sauce was zingy and rich, had the perfect amount of cheese that didn't overwhelm the flavors of the sauce, and he could taste the fresh quality of the pasta. He also said it wasn't overly oily, which was a huge bonus to him, as other Italian places tend to have very oily sauces in his opinion. All in all, my husband and I were smiling the entire way through our meal. It kept getting better and better. We were too full to order dessert, but we can only imagine how good it is based on everything else we got to enjoy. I've been to Italy and have struggled to find Italian food in America that matches the quality I received during that time, but this place is damn near right there. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

Our family loves Matteo! We're always welcomed warmly and feel like family while we're there. Seth was a great server...attentive and helping with menu selections. Starters of burrata, Brie and crab/crostini special were all delicious. Our pastas were cooked perfectly as were the chicken and salmon dishes. The cheesecake for dessert is played in a unique way. The panna cotta was yummy. Only wish there was a traditional tiramisu! A special dessert came out with candle for birthday girl and she was very touched. Thank you and we look forward to our next visit!

We loved everything about this place. Other diners may complain this it's too loud/cramped in the row of 2 tops, but the energy in the dining room is part of what makes this place special. Our waiter Bruno was exceptional. The whipped Brie was so delicious, as were our pasta and beef. We look forward to returning.

The beet salad had so few beets they were hard to find and not close to enough goat cheese. It was a bit bland and tasteless. The lasagna was excellent as was the tagliatelle bolognese. The cocktails were delicious and the panna cotta was excellent. The I'll definitely go back but I'll skip the beet salad. I'll try some of the other menu options.
