I needed a birthday treat for one of my manager's birthday so I stopped in Mrs. Backers Pastry shop in my way into work. I decided to get 12 cupcakes for my team. There were no prices listed on the items and I didn't ask. When the gal rang me up, the total was around $32. Since I needed to be at work, I didn't question the price, paid for them, and had high expectations for these cupcakes. When I ate mine, I was very disappointed--it was dry and the icing tasted more like crisco than icing. And to make things worse, as I took a bite, the icing topped off the cupcake and onto the floor. The only reason I gave this bakery a star was because the girl who helped me was helpful. I would not recommend getting cupcakes here.

Mrs. Backer's is a Salt Lake Classic! They continue to make absolutely beautiful and delicious cakes, pastries, cookies, and more. It feels magical when you walk in this little shop, like you've stepped back in time and the smell is heavenly. I'm addition to the many tasty selections, they always have lovely, seasonal gift items, too. Everyone who works here is always really helpful and accommodating. Our family has gotten our birthday cakes here for over 25 years and the tradition continues!

Though I only enjoy a small few treats here I absolutely love stopping here as often as I can to visually enjoy the beauty and artistry of each dessert.Its a feeling of going back in time.I actually only enjoy the snicker doodles where taste is concerned and its hit and miss there but I absolutely love all there is to see including the decorations and i love getting a treat there for someone else. Ill add pictures
