Nice location, unimpressive food. Ordered hot, and was expecting spicy. Got "Utah" hot, which is basically bland.
Then there's the price.... OMG is this overpriced... its a chicken sandwich not filet mignon. Definitely not worth a return visit....
I've been a fan of Chef Viet Pham through watching his appearances on the Food Network and was very excited to go to Pretty Bird while on vacation in Salt Lake City. The food didn't disappoint! The chicken sandwich was amazing and spicy and fresh. I'll go there every time I'm in SLC and I hope that someday Pretty Bird comes to New York!
Best chicken sandwich ever!!

Pretty Bird Hot Chicken, Downtown offers a unique dining experience focused on flavorful hot chicken sandwiches. The sandwich is a highlight, featuring tender, dark meat chicken with a dry spicy rub. Served with pickles, slaw, and special sauce, it continues to impress many customers. The fries are battered, flavorful, golden, and crispy, making them a great complement to the meal. Some guests have noted that portion sizes may have decreased and prices increased, but the food remains enjoyable. The ordering process is efficient, utilizing a simple kiosk system, although some have expressed that it lacks personal service. The staff is friendly and helpful, but with the switch to outside-only seating, the atmosphere has been described as less inviting, especially on cold days or when it's very hot, as outdoor seating can be uncomfortable in extreme weather. Parking can be a challenge, as the restaurant is located in an alleyway with limited options. Overall, Pretty Bird Hot Chicken remains a popular choice for those craving a flavorful chicken sandwich, despite some concerns about pricing and the dining experience.
