Tea grotto has a great selection of teas and has such a cute little interior!I’ve had great experiences in the past, but do want to mention mine today because it made me feel freaked out.I came in to meet a friend for their birthday. I had a turkey wrap in my backpack because I hadn’t been able to eat yet and it was 5 PM. (On my way out I looked and they DO have a small sign on their door in about size 14 font that has a list of rules, including no outside food. I didn’t notice that before.)I had tried to look on their website at the menu ahead of time to see if they had food and just got an error message repeatedly. I’ve never had an issue before bringing a small snack into a place that primarily sells drinks.I asked the person working for a small plate and took a menu so I could pick out tea. He scowled at me and was unpleasant to the point I felt uncomfy. He then walked past where we were sitting and aggressively told me “just so you know for the future, outside food isn’t allowed in here” and stormed off. I finished my bite and put the rest in my bag. It was an honest mistake on my end.His energy was pretty intense and threatening.I went to go order my tea and as kindly as I could mentioned that there was probably a more gentle way to say what he did. He told me “well, I could’ve been more aggressive and told you to put it away or to leave”. I let him know I would have had no problem putting my sandwich away at that moment or throwing it away to be respectful. He continued to be rude when I asked about teas, so I said again I’d appreciate if he wouldn’t be rude to me. He continued to seem aggravated and truly made me anxious - it seemed like he was about to explode, so my friend and I left. Hoping he was just having a bad day and is kinder and more welcoming normally.

The tea is great and I love how I am able to get two re-steeps on my tea. It makes for an amazing deal and you can enjoy it with a friend. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing.

I've been all over the country and this gem in SLC is one of the top three tea houses I've been to. Tying with Seven Cups Chinese Tea in Tucson and Kumo Tea House in NYC for absolute best I have tried. Gyokuro and Ume Matcha were as close to perfection as I have had. Fantastic service, very knowledgeable and friendly brewisto. Very relaxing setting, comfortable furniture, appropriate music and temperature conductive teapots. Will be here every day I travel through Salt Lake City in the future.

I’m obsessed with sit down tea places where I can pour and take my time. They have a really large selection (over 180) of all kinds of teas. I typically get green tea or white tea. Today I got the citrus green and the divine fruit white and they’re both lovely mild teas. I love the seating just wish they had more of the private tea rooms. Staff is sweet and helpful. Clean store and rr. I would say I enjoy the ambiance extra when they have the relaxing music playing.

A great place to stop and enjoy some tea while relaxing. They have a huge selection of teas to try or take home as well as friendly, knowledgeable staff (and some good food to boot). If you're in the area, definitely stop by. If you're not, it's worth the trip.

I came here during the pandemic to get some tea and keep a local business afloat, and I’m glad I finally made it back to actually sit down with a friend here for once. The staff is very friendly and recommended a tea for me, since I wasn’t very sure about what I wanted. They have a lot of options of all kinds of tea, so you’ll never be short of choices here. I can’t speak to any of their food, but the environment is really nice, and whatever I saw someone eating looked really good. I will definitely be back for more!Dietary restrictions: They offer soy, almond, and oat milk for teas and other drinks! Great if you can’t or don’t drink dairy.

Came here after dinner for a post dinner tea and dessert. They have an extensive tea menu in addition to soup, salads sandwiches and other small bites. They also sell a variety of tea items to upgrade your tea experience from cups to tea steepers. The sitting area is cozy with little nooks for studying or for catching up.We ordered two teas along with an Earl grey cookie and a red bean brownie. The teas came out after a few minutes but the desserts took some time but they were nicely plated. The red bean brownie was surprisingly so light and moist. The cookie was thin and crunchy but on the sweeter side. The lavender topping was a nice touch. Definitely a nice place to unwind at the end of the day.

This place has a good atmosphere and the staff are very nice. If you’re just wanting to hang out with friends and drink popular types of green & black tea, the only downsides to coming here are the tiny food menu and very limited street parking. Most of the times I tried to visit I had to just keep driving because there was nowhere to park. If you are serious about tea, or are interested in branching out and trying less popular teas, you will probably be disappointed. Their pricing model is not conducive at all to trying various teas, and you will be charged full price for a full cup of each. And if you are interested in less popular teas like white and pu’er, you might find like I did that the flavor is flat, stale, or funky, presumably due to poor storage or low quality sourcing. The staff are also not very knowledgeable about these types of teas and will likely brew them incorrectly. A gong fu service is offered, at an additional cost. They sell bags of bulk loose leaf tea, though they are on the pricey side compared to online sellers, and I would not trust their quality or that they had been stored correctly, for the reasons I mentioned
