I was in the US Army and deployed to Afghanistan. I ate all sorts of local food there. The Kabul Kitchen in Salt Lake City is just as good if not better than pretty much anything I ate in Afghanistan. Fantastic place. Just know that Afghan food is distinctly different from Pakistani and Indian even if some of the names are the same. Afghan food is unique.

I absolutely love restaurants that have a market feel, and this one definitely hit the mark. Even though I'm not from Afghanistan, I really enjoy the culture, the people, and especially the food. I visited with two friends who are equally open to experiencing different cultures and cuisines, so it made for a great atmosphere.

While we waited for our food, I snacked on their delicious green raisins with a hot cup of black tea—such a simple but satisfying...

Before I start saying anything, you should know that I am a cook myself and grew up with Afghani food. AMAZING FOOD! was there yesterday for qabuli lamb shank, going back today for Mantu! No more words needed!!
