The food at this place is delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful, with an amazing view of the Potomac river. Unfortunately my family and I had a really bad experience. We called early around 7 pm to make a reservation, the lady by phone told me she could reserve a table for us at 9 pm, based on her, the kitchen would be closed at 10 pm and based on the website and what she said, the place would close at 11 pm. We expected to have plenty of time to enjoy the food and share with our family. One of our sisters was having her birthday. So...We arrived, and they didn't pay any attention to us. After around 30 min of waiting they brought the menus, the water with an advertisement that they would close earlier. We asked for the food. And even though the food was not yet at the table, they brought the check!!They weren't rude, but, all the service was in a rush, and the waitress in charge of our table asked us to leave at 10:15 pm. It was such a horrible experience.We weren't the only table in the place though.They just asked all the people to leave, because they had to set up the chairs and everything.I hope we can have a better experience some day. Just feedback for the waitress: don't offer a reservation time by phone you can't attend.

Setting is gorgeous! We had beautiful weather and the scenery along the water was wonderful. Our server was pleasant, but not anything to write home about. The food was really pretty good. The slices of cucumber were excellent. But the entire time I was eating it, I kept thinking it was double (if not triple) the price it should’ve been. I the steak was also very good, but again a tiny little pile for $22!?! I can get a better deal in Napa Valley. The empanadas were just fine. The scallops were excellent. Three of them on the plate with a good sauce. Overall, good food, but exponentially more expensive than it should’ve been. Not worth the cost when there are tons of other options out there to try.

I had made a reservation, when we went up to the host table she said the only seating she had was at the bar and I said oh well I made a reservation then magically she was able to seat us at a table per our reservation. The waiter took our order we put it all in at once. It took almost 45 mins for our food to arrive, meanwhile all the tables near us that got seated after us were already done eating and ready to order desert. I wouldn't recommend.

This place is hands down, 5 stars! One of the best places to eat in the DMV. The food was outstanding and so was the ambiance. We order the scallops, patatas bravas, stuffed figs, pan con tomate, and the kebab. Every plate was seasoned perfectly and had great flavor. The scallops were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The patatas bravas had a good kick of spice and great flavor, and the pan con tomate was so garlicky and delicious. We ate inside because it was cold (and loved the decor and tableware) and plan to come back once the weather warms up and enjoy food and drinks at the waterfront bar area. Can't say enough good things about this place!

There is no better place in town to have a small bite to eat and a few drinks on the waterfront. Been here more than a few times. Staff is great, food and drinks are always good.
Baraca has the best view in Old Town with even better food! Love tapas style so we were able to try several dishes that were packed with flavor. Our favorites were the patatas bravas, beef kebab and beef tenderloin. I was able to try Jamon Iberico De Bellota for the first time which was delightful.The outdoor area is enclosed with heaters so it’s perfect even in the middle of winter.Management and servers are great who will ensure that guests have an amazing experience. We can’t wait to go back during the summer!

I live in Vermont and had only been to Alexandria once before. A friend recommended this restaurant for a small reunion. It is a rare occasion when I can say that every single dish that was served to us was extraordinary. We had many new tasting experiences. This is a small wine bar in the cold of winter if you want to eat inside. But in the summer you can dine at many locations outside including right next to the water. If I ever get back to Alexandria, definitely coming back here again.

Overall a very pleasant outing! The staff were friendly and attentive, with the exception of the hostess. It took a while to get her to notice us at the host stand, which normally wouldn't be an issue but it was raining so it made for a very poor start to the night. The food was delicious and overall very reasonable priced for the portion size, but the Jamón Ibérico was much smaller than expected. Would still recommend to a friend, just things to be aware of. The patatas bravas were amazing, and our server gave us incredible service. They even refilled my dog's water bowl when she'd nearly emptied it!

To start, WHAT A VIEW! It's super pretty and if you can grab the tables closest to the river, it's great.I have already been twice and without a doubt the food, service and atmosphere are really good.The first time we sat in the middle. And after 5 minutes a table next to the edge was free, we asked one of the girls if there was a possibility of moving to that table and she very kindly let us. And it's the best we could do, we really enjoyed the dinner and the view. We ordered sangria, shrimp, croquettes, pansito.The second time there were more people and we didn't make a reservation, that day the place was full. They got us a table on the other side but we still enjoyed the service and the atmosphere.
