Love this quaint Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant very much. Every time we come to northern VA we visit for a Balanced breakfast and a cafe breve. The bread that comes with the breakfast is crispy on the outside and angel-food-cake-esque on the inside which is great to clean the plate with. The enjera is so flavorful you forget it's a vegetarian dish! The staff are super friendly and efficient! The owner is in sometimes and walks around to each patron. Highly recommend 10/10!
I’ve been going to Cafe Aurora for years, and it remains one of my favorite neighborhood gems in Alexandria.
The Eritrean food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The Shiro is simply the best in this area, blessed as we are with so many Habesha dining options.
And what really sets the establishment apart is the wonderful hospitality. Owners Dahab and Joseph make every visit feel personal and welcoming.

A lovely Eritrean restaurant. I’ve been coming here for many years, and the staff is wonderful, and the atmosphere is peaceful. I often get the fu’ul, and it’s delicious. Breakfast is served all day. Their espresso drinks are always perfect.
