The place is full of mice. And they don’t even care if you complain about it. Amazing. They need to be inspected.

Cooper Mills in Old Town Alexandria is a fantastic spot for authentic New York-style pizza. We tried both the standard and Sicilian styles, and both were excellent, the toppings were flavorful and well-blended, making for a really high-quality pizza.
What really sets this place apart for groups or families is the upstairs reserved area. It offers plenty of space for kids to enjoy themselves while the adults can relax and hang out. The balcony also provides some nice scenery, which adds to the great ambiance.
Throughout our visit, the wait staff was very tentative and responsive.
The only minor suggestion for improvement would be the water quality; it had a distinct taste that could likely be improved with a reverse osmosis filtration system. This was a small point in an otherwise outstanding visit. We will definitely be back.

Very underwhelming. It's a shame the location and building didn't yield anything better than over priced and hyped bar food. Sandwich, 2 x of pizza, side salad, and 2 beers was 90 dollars.
And all of it was mid at best.

So let's start with the positives: Finding the location? Good! Parking for the location? Great, there are three parking garages close by. That's about all I can say that is good. The service was horrible; the manager was reflective of the poor service. Unfortunately, we came on a day that somebody was celebrating their wedding, so the music was very loud from upstairs. No disrespect to the wedding, in any form! They were a beautiful couple, and their music was actually quite good, but it made conversation downstairs somewhat difficult due to the volume level, as we were seated at the bottom of the stairs.
Now there was a dual purpose to us viewing this location for networking and fact-finding, whether it would be an excellent location for off-site office parties. That idea soured very quickly when the server brought us our checks, demanding that we close them out because HE had to leave. They, the venue, knew the time frame and the reason the 10 of us were there, and then they allowed him to do that. First red flag. Then he screwed up everyone’s tab, the second red flag. The final draw occurred when I asked the manager to come over and talk to me, and he thought it was perfectly reasonable for me to create two checks on a business tab. Seriously!!! Then one of my colleagues, trying to make peace, wanted to just pay for all the errors that the waiter caused, which was not happening. That caused some unnecessary friction between us that had to be resolved.
The point of the line is that the service ruined the experience; the food was okay, but I'm not a fan of room-temperature items that should have been served hot. I would not recommend this location for a party. May staying in their comfortable lane of smaller parties is what they can do until they can handle larger groups. I handle large-scale events with huge budgets and am not comfortable providing them that opportunity when they couldn't sort out $300 in a positive manner.

This place is near the waterfront but not quite, and a little off of the tourist area, but we were unable to get into any other place on a nice weekend. The format is mostly pizza or pizza related. We got the spuckie, which is a sub, and a zepp, which was sort of a pizza crust folded over, The sub was not quite loaded like a normal sub but was tasty, and my wife enjoyed her zepp. Drinks were kind of funny-- I had ordered a draft beer, and got a can of what was nearly something completely opposite in character, which, when challenged by my wife, she explained what I ordered was out and this was "close." It was promptly replaced. Two mains without sides and two beers was just under $60, normal for the waterfront area, but a bit strange for a sub to not come with a side like fries or something. The food wasn't bad but it's not the best Alexandria can do.
Amazing waterfront location with very fun but also clean bar food. Cocktails were strong and yummy and food was delicious. Large portions. Service great. We can’t wait to keep going. Also has happy hour and indoor and outdoor seating.

MANDATORY 22% Gratuity? Are we seriously at this point now? You don’t even see that in Miami beach, what gives? The service was actually not good for our group of 50+. It may have been a new bartender just learning, I was still going to tip but 22%? To be fair, when speaking to the manager, he did ask if it needed to be changed, but I know he was already annoyed by me for asking literally valid questions. I generally tip 30%+ but to AUTOMATICALLY be charged 22% I have never seen in my life.
Edit: in response to the owner’s reply.. how can it not be mandatory? How am I going to change the bill? The manager seemed to be very upset about it when asked. So yes, 22% automatically applied gratuity is unethical and borderline illegal. Next time I have to come here I’m making sure my group doesn’t pay for anything. The audacity to not even advertise this to customers is outrageous. We had bad service! It was not a bill for a large group, I bought a few beers and pizza that was extremely slow and the bartender asked me 3 times what I wanted like they forgot.
Additionally, if the place closes at 10, and they have 4 pizzas sitting out at the kitchen, why would they stop selling at 9? And to be rude about it too? The whole experience was just ridiculous, and I generally give great reviews.

We absolutely love Cooper Mill—it’s such a beautiful and charming venue! From the moment we visited, we knew it was the perfect place for us, and we’re so excited to be having our wedding here. The space is warm, inviting, and full of character, and the team has been wonderful to work with. Couldn’t be happier with our choice!
