I lived in Italy 3 years. This sent me right back. Freshest ingredients I've had state side. Split three different dishes and all were divine. Every detail down to the Orange Juice, Cappuccino, everything, perfect. Everyone was so kind too! Can't recommend enough.
I stopped here last Friday evening while waiting for traffic to calm down and ended up staying much longer than planned. The iced caramel latte had a strong coffee flavor instead of tasting like pure syrup, which I appreciated. There were people chatting, a couple students studying, and somehow the place still felt calm. My pastry came out later than expected because they mixed up the order number, but they apologized right away and added an extra cookie without me even asking....
Any time I visit my sister in D.C. I love to come to Del Ray Cafe. It is always delicious, the servers are kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is clean and relaxing. When you get your food, it looks like an Instagram photo every time. That is just their standard. I've never had a bad meal here. I usually get the lobster benedict when it's on special, or eggs benedict and a crepe. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice and many other delicacies on the menu....
