We were so excited to order our Saturday night dinner from Hank and Mitzi’s. This would have been our first time eating dinner from this restaurant. We ordered our dinner using Grub Hub and placed our order two hours prior to when we would receive it. Thirty minutes prior to our delivery window we received a call from Grub Hub letting us know that the order was on its way missing one of the entrees. Grub hub called the restaurant and asked for them to substitute a different entree to replace the one that was unavailable but it was too late as the restaurant had sent out the incomplete order. We called the restaurant and spoke with the manager we said why didn’t they give us a chance to make a substitution for the missing entree? He said that he tried calling but couldn’t get through. We all know that all he had to do was call grub hub and have them contact us or give our phone number to the restaurant. When I asked the manager if he was in my shoes how would he feel? I was trying to let him offer a way to let us get our dinner. I know he was busy but this was unacceptable especially for new customers.I ran my own business and believe me the customer would have gotten excellent customer service from me and truly at no cost. I am ranting because a good business takes care of its customer. The one star would be less if the option were available.I hope, the manager learns something from this review.

Fantastic drinks. The Alfa Romeo was perfect for this Fiat driver.Delicious antipasto and calamari. Decent pizza. Regrettable lasagna (Thankfully, I didn't order it, just tasted).Prices are...slightly higher than I wanted them to be for the fare, but the service and ambiance made up for it.

A+! Been coming here since it was Hank's Pasta Bar and it's been improving ever since. Staff is very friendly, quick, and the food is outstanding! Reasonably priced menu items and drinks

Very average.. no good crusty bread for your sauce..instead they make you buy their”bread” which is really a small pizza and a side of sauce se! Pasta was good, smallish portions bit pricey

Wound up in the northern part of Old Town Alexandria on a wet and windy weekend and swung into Hank & Mitzi's for a mid-day bite. Nice streetside seating, but with the weather we needed to be inside. Still following social distancing and wait staff masking, we felt comfortable being inside. Ordering off the brunch menu with a slimmed down set of options was a great way to be introduced to their fare. The Mafalde, a sausage, broccoli, pasta dish in a cream sauce was really terrific with just the right level of spice. The Fettucine and Shrimp Fra Diavolo sported a tasty tomato sauce that was unique and filling. The side of cheese bread made for a good 'plate wipe up' tool! As our first trip in, we were pleased. We'll be back to try dinner and I'll update our review.

Arrived for reservation at 8:00 and were met by a friendly and energetic ?manager. She showed us to our table and we ordered drinks. The server recommended a white Negroni (had never heard of it). It was blah and overpriced. My husbands calamari appetizer was Ok. As for the entrees - I had the spinach and ricotta raviolis - Ok. My husband had the seafood linguine with added shellfish. 1. The seafood that came with the linguine was straight from a frozen Costco bag. 2. The added seafood was suppose to be shelled clams and shelled mussels. Well they were out of clams so they substituted chopped up clams. From a can? You decide. Oh and they forgot to bring our wine. As we were eating our server interrupted us to say “ last call for food; if you want dessert - you'll have to order it now.” What? We finished our meal as all tables were broken down around us and we felt rushed. Do not take a reservation at 8 if you close at 9.

Massimo (sp?) Was so delightful. His guidance on the wine was excellent He was so knowledgeable and helpful on everything. The waiter was most enjoyable. (Our recipe was 1029 - the waiter was Chip or Joshua) I apologize but we did enjoy his comoany. The masks don't make it easy ?We had not been to Hank& Mitzi"s since it was Hank's Pasta,(& since the year of covid) however the quality of the food & the wine are still fabulous! It was our first evening out in VA after Covid. We live in Maryland but the pasta, wine, and staff were worth coming out. Thank you for being back!

The food at Hank we started with the mushroom salad, then clam linguine (amazing), and finished with the chocolate mousse. The service was lovely, our waiter was very funny and attentive - for the mushroom salad we said we were gonna share, and they brought us the dish already split into 2 plates! Very thoughtful. I would certainly go again.

Seating was OK. Not much ambiance. Our server was one of the least friendly people I have seen waiting tables in a long time. No “hello”, just “Can I take your order”. Asked him if an item on the menu was good and he responded “it's all fine”. Never smiled. We were very rushed. We wanted to stay and catch up (we were seated at 6:50 ). When we went to order an additional drink and dessert he said “we need this table at 8:15 so I need you to pay”. There was NO ONE waiting. And when we walked back by after going to another establishment for 45 minutes our table was still empty. Very poor customer service. He also overcharged our CC by $16 each, so we had to get a manager to adjust it. I thought the food was pretty good. I would want to go back if we had felt like valued customers.

Love eating here, but the server was not the best. I had to keep asking for things, that if he had come over to the table a few times, he would of realized we needed. And for some reason the grilled octopus, that I always get, was not tender. But the pizza and raviolis was amazing!

Found this tucked away restaurant while walking around old town Alexandria. It was so nice to sit outside with our dogs. Even though it was getting busy, we still were able to get a table on a busy Sat. evening. Soft shell crab was so tasty. Drinks were refreshing and wait staff were very attentive. Will definitely dine again!!

We went here for outdoor dining - it was our first date night out since covid began. Delicious food, great service! The patio is right along the road but they've done a great job of adding lights and shade to make it as pleasant and spacious as possible! Will definitely be back!

I really like Hank and Mitzi's as it is steps away from me. Their pizza is awesome, happy hour offers great options both wines and small bites. However, the host's attitude is to be desired unless you spend money! I am not a big eater nor a big drinker. I don't order big meals or lots of drinks and he had made comments such as "if you want to show support, order Champagne!" I don't feel welcome going there and it's regrettable because what I have tried is well made food! So much for a neighborhood spot

Pizza was awful. The pepperoni did not taste like pepperoni. Bread ordered by one guest was tasteless and thrown away at home as was the remaining pizza. Service was very good and sitting outside was great. Not sure I will return.

The food is spectacular. Our service was mediocre. They stuck is in a bland back room with a curtain behind us. One of my guest room marked it looked a little bit like the DMV. We decided to take our desserts and after dinner drinks outside and that was much more charming.
