Greetings, tiny cozy bar area. Was one other customer & us so we chatted with that person. Then we headed to dining room for dinner/drinks. Jazz band was definitely a nice touch to the night & got us to stay much, much, longer than intended . I don't think the staffs are used to easy fast spenders & lively people like us. Thank you.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and the location was conveniently close to our hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and cheerful, which set the tone for a great evening. My wife ordered the Mahi curry and said it was the best she's ever had. The presentation was like an artwork, and the flavors matched the beauty on the plate—truly memorable. She also has a gluten allergy, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations, which made the experience even better. A wonderful night from start to finish.
While Laporta's advertises "Live Jazz" every night, last night was something a little different: a three piece group playing folk and blues back from the 20's and 30's. A nice change up and some really good music that took me to a place and time that I had not personally experienced.
I had read that there would be a jazz band playing during brunch but there wasn't and we were disappointed because that was the primary reason we had brunch at the restaurant.
As always-such a wonderful time with delicious food, friendly staff and great jazz! We had a good friend in from out of town, his first time here, he loved it!
It was the best considering it was our New Year's family dinner , the jazz was perfect , the staff were super nice and friendly. The food was delicious and the service was on time. They were prepared for this holiday. It was amazing !
It was a nice place to go for dinner and music on NYE. But it felt like they crowded in as many tables as they could possibly squeeze in and servers were constantly swerving by our table. My salad appetizer was good but my entree was very dry and my blueberry cobbler was super salty and the blueberries weren't sweet at all. I ended up not eating much of those 2 courses... the music was a nice touch but I don't think I would choose to go there again for NYE.
I just moved to the area, and this has become my FAVORITE PLACE. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is picture perfect and delicious. You can tell the chef looks at every single order and makes sure they are served to perfection. This is wo wonderful. I would've provided a better photo, but I devoured most of the glorious mussels before taking the PIC!!!

Got it — here's an updated version that clearly explains the gratuity was calculated on the taxed amount, not just the meal subtotal: ⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Revised Review Summary We brought a large group (10 adults, 3 children, and 2 babies), and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. We visited between lunch and dinner and had most of the dining room to ourselves. Our server was attentive, polite, and everyone enjoyed their meals with no real complaints. The pricing felt a bit high at first, but for Old Town Alexandria it's likely consistent with similar restaurants. My only real nit is that the automatically added 20% gratuity was calculated on both the meal prices and the tax, rather than just the meal subtotal. Not a dealbreaker, but something I personally prefer handled differently. Overall, we appreciated the warm hospitality and how smoothly the team accommodated such a large party. A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
First time experience at Laporta. Service was impeccable, ambiance was wonderful, food was outstanding.
Nice restaurant with live music, but also an area away from the band where the sound is a nice background to enjoy with the meal. I tried the Virginia trout, which had a very nice flavor but was just a tad overcooked. The hostess and wait staff were exceptional; accessible when needed but not over-bearing. Certainly worth a try.
Great pasta dishes Must try the savory bread pudding You MUST have the best carrot cake I have ever had
Our dining experience was almost perfect. The food was delicious and the service was beyond wonderful! Our server, Adonis, went above and beyond our expectations. He was very attentive to our every need, very solicitous of out entire party, and especially our 97 year old birthday girl! The jazz was excellent also. Our only concern was that the area we were seated in was very dark. We had to use our phone flashlights to read our menus. Otherwise, it was a perfect evening. ❤️
