I was truly blown away by how delicious every single dish at The Study was. As a Guatemalan, I found the creative use of Latin American ingredients and flavors in the unique dishes at The Study not only interesting and creative but also familiar and nostalgic. I love it when food takes me to a happy place. Chef Tomas Chavarria and chef Madeline Guzman can really create magic in the kitchen. Some of my favorite dishes included the kalbi ssam short rib lettuce wraps, the sweet plantain empanadas, the Costa Rican ceviche, the duck magret and achiote, the tres leches, and the coffee flan. I also loved the seasonal cherry blossom-inspired cocktail and the mocktail they prepared specially for me. I really loved the ambiance, and even though I had dinner here with friends, I think this is the perfect restaurant for a date night or for celebrating something special.

food, drinks, and service were amazing. Rodney is one of the best servers I've ever encountered. Good vegetarian options too.

Dinner at The Study was superb. Rodney, our server, was very knowledgeable about the menu and all of his recommendations were delicious. The ambiance was calm and inviting, with a mix of live music from a talented pianist and warm conversation from all of the diners. Food highlights: plantain empanada and gallo pinto bowl. Drink highlight: Goosebumps.

I enjoyed the haute cuisine versions of Costa Rican classics. We also enjoyed a chat with the chef on our visit.

Our first time here for a weekend getaway. Certainly convenient being in the hotel at which we lodged. The food and drinks were absolutely superb. Rodney, our server, was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The piano player added a nice touch to the evening as well.

The best bar in Old Town, hands down, and I've been to all of them. This bar competes with the best bars in DC. The drinks are imaginative. No short cuts. For the true cocktail enthusiast.

Great food and fantastic service with a cool vibe. Complementary amuse bouche from the chef to start was amazing, the ceviche was spot on, the duck breast was well portioned and cooked perfectly. We ended with the flan and it was simply decadent. First time visiting and will definitely be back.

I wish I could eat here all the time. Rodney's service was impeccable. When I asked him, his recommendations of Chef Thomas' menu were spot on need on my preferences. Chef Thomas' food is always uplifting and nostalgic. Manny (at the bar) always creates something delicious. Thank you all.

This place is such a hidden gem!! Michelin quality food, and the dining room is absolutely stunning. One of the best spots in Old Town. The service by Rodney was amazing, and the chef (Maddie) even came by our table to make sure our experience was awesome!

The food is exceptionally tasty and service is good. However, the $50 restaurant week special is a scam. The most expensive combination you could get is only $56. If you do practically anything else you are paying more than if you just got the items you wanted normally! We bought $180 of food traditionally for $200 (4 ways) in name of “restaurant week”

We came for restaurant week and everything was very good. We started with the short rib lettuce wraps and the beef tartare - the beef tartare was some of the best we've ever had. For entrees we got the steak & onions and the octopus - both were very delicious. The service was outstanding as well. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing, our server was so knowledgeable about each dish, the descriptions helped when we were stuck deciding between two dishes. Food had great flavor, and spicey, not too much spicey, more flavorful! My husband got 2 drinks that were both delicious and very unique. The space and ambiance is very beautiful and intimate. We will definitely be back !

I’m all for smaller portion sizes, and most places give WAY too much- but I’ve never left a restaurant hungry in America. The entrees were tapas sizes. My husband’s steak was roughly 4 inches by 1 inches. We went to five guys afterwards because we were still hungry. The service was great though. The food we did receive was good though.

A culinary delight! I came with a small group to checkout the Alexandria Restaurant Week menu. For an appetizer I had the short rib lettuce wrap and for the entree the duck and achiote. Since it's a dry January for me, I had a sangria mocktail that was as delicious as it was pretty. The service was outstanding and I will be back to enjoy the cuisine and pleasant atmosphere.

While I enjoyed The Study, I feel like my enjoyment would have increased if I feel like I hadn't been duped a bit by restaurant week. There really wasn't a deal there. We opted out of that and just tried some things. The bread with 3 kinds of butter and cocktails were the standout for us.
