Some dishes were amazing - octopus, wagyu, sashimi, but some others were really off the mark - the watermelon and cold noodles (didn’t match the ambiance) nor the first course (some mushy tomato soup)

We were really looking forward to returning to Nasime after five years, but sadly, this visit was a major letdown. At $110 per person for the omakase and $75 for the sake pairing, we expected a polished and memorable dining experience — but it missed the mark on several fronts.
The chef seemed disengaged throughout the meal, which was surprising given the intimate setting. His uniform was visibly stained, and the kitchen didn’t appear as clean or orderly as we remembered or expected at this price point.
The biggest disappointment came with the sashimi course. We were given a single shared platter — and each type of fish had only three pieces, so we had to awkwardly split the third piece between the two of us. For an omakase of this caliber, individual plating should be a given. To make matters worse, some of the cuts were gristly and unpleasant in texture — a far cry from the clean, delicate sashimi we’d hoped for.
All in all, it felt like the attention to detail and care that once defined Nasime has faded. For the cost, we expected more — in food quality, presentation, and hospitality.

Food was thoughtfully prepared and server was great at explaining what we were eating and how we should combine certain elements of the dish.

Dining at Nasime Japanese Restaurant is not just a meal—it’s an experience. The joy of sitting down for an omakase here is something truly special. Each course is a reflection of the chef’s commitment to seasonality and quality, with dishes thoughtfully crafted from the best ingredients sourced fresh from the markets. No two visits are ever quite the same, and that’s part of what makes it so memorable.
Chef Yuh’s attention to detail and creativity shine through in every bite, and the pacing of the meal allows you to fully appreciate the layers of flavor and technique behind each dish. It feels personal, intimate, and incredibly well-executed.
While the restaurant only offers two seating times, which may not fit everyone’s schedule, I promise—it’s worth adjusting your plans. If you're able to adapt to the timing, you're in for one of the most rewarding dining experiences in the area. Nasime is a quiet gem that delivers elegance without pretense. Highly recommended.

First taste the of first dish brought me back to my time back in Japan. Taste-wise, probably the most authentic Japanese cusine experience one could ever get in the DMV area.

Just moved to Old Town and so happy we stumbled across this place. Absolute gem of a restaurant, fantastic dishes, and an overall incredible experience which I look forward to experiencing again soon!
Intimate, Comfortable, Respectful and Unique. This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in my life. There were things the chef made that I cannot even explain fully in terms of flavors. The meal in its entirety got me perfectly full. I will definitely be back.
A fantastic omakase experience that went beyond just serving nigiri. The prices were reasonable, the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. However, like many omakase spots, the portion sizes were quite small—the only dish that really left me feeling about 70% full was the pot of udon served at the end.
Fantastic experience

Sashimi was perfect, whisky pours were below average, probably give about double the pours for the cost of a Hibiki. The desert was the most underwhelming part of the menu.
