My husband and I have been hearing good things about Stracci’s for a while. We finally made the drive out to Alexandria for takeout over the weekend. Boy, were we not disappointed. Although we didn’t dine there, upon arrival the atmosphere was alive. People milling about, a pleasant din of chatter all around, lots of glasses of wine clinking and laughter, children babbling. It just had a good vibe. Inside was a little loud but not unpleasantly so and had a warm, homey vibe....
Food was great as always! What I was most surprised about were the surcharges on the side of olive oil ($3) and the grated parm/reggiano ($2) to top the pizzas off with. I agreed to pay for them but, when you order focaccia bread as your starter, it’s nice to have dipping oil and of course, many folks love grated cheese on their pizzas. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Alexandria because of the consistent, quality food. The food just comes out way too fast even when you try to delay it by ordering as you go through the QR code or asking the staff (ie: five dishes in less than 25 minutes, or all the food arriving before your drinks are served) so the meal feels rushed every time.
