This place is a hidden gem in Old Town! I went there for the first time last weekend and had a wonderful time. The owner’s family gave us such a warm welcome I felt like a house guest. The food was a bit pricey but AMAZING, and the atmosphere both inside and outside the restaurant were very welcoming. I found a new favorite place!
Not since I spent time in Bologna, in the Emilia-Romagna region in Italy known for superb dining, have I tasted as authentic a dish as the branzino at Taverna Cretekou. Presented as a whole fish, as a European sea bass should be, the skin was seasoned and seared, slightly crunchy. The meat was moist and flaky, easy to separate from the bones. What really distinguished this dish for me was how perfectly the delicious, sweet and briny, delicate flavor of the branzino stood out....

- Each time I had a different lamb entree. Thoroughly enjoyed all of them.
- Great appetizers (special shout out to calamari).
- Bread basket comes with olive oil infused with garlic and maybe parsley.
- Children got a complimentary cup of some lemony soup (delicious). They also let us order French fries (not on the menu) to appease picky children.
