We had a fantastic dinner at Thompson Italian. There were four of us, and we shared a bottle of wine and a fresh, flavorful panzanella to start. I ordered the squid ink bucatini, and it was absolutely delicious. We also tried a couple of desserts, and every bite was excellent.

Had a pleasant dinner, every dish was quality and the atmosphere was private and quiet (on a Thursday evening). Simple menu and each item we ordered was satisfying. Nothing knocked the socks off my taste buds, but the flavors were rich and I’d return. Bread and olive oils were prime.

Thompson is one of the best spots for pasta and Italian in Alexandria. We’ve come three times now and each time we have enjoyed our visit. The food is great and the ambiance is charming. Service is usually very good but we have encountered an inattentive waitstaff on one occasion where we had to hunt down the waiter for our check. However, that alone was an outlier of otherwise great visits.
