Finally a good Chinese restaurant! Super affordable and quick service. The cucumbers and potstickers are a must have. Spicy beef noddle soup was pretty good. My partner got the rice and pork chops which were the most tender and well seasoned I’ve had in a while. I don’t love the scallion pancakes because they were a little too thick to my liking. You can tell everything is home made with love.

Utterly delicious, highly recommend the dan dan noodles, beef dumplings, and scallion pancakes. It was quick and easy to order, and food came straight away.

this place blew my mind , everything from the soups to the rice dishes and dumplings were awesome. Not the typical Chinese menu, but that made this place that much better. Its like i opened a door to Chinese cuisine i didn't know existed. Highly recommend swinging by

This is my favorite Chinese place in northern VA. My husband and I come here at least every 2 weeks if not more often. I love that the food is fresh and really good quality for a very reasonable price. They also make their own noodles in house. Our go to are: 1. Wontons in chili oil 2. Rice a chicken 3. Rice and pork 4. Cucumbers in chili oil 5. Pickled cabbage 6. Any of the noodle soups 7. House made dumplings My favorite hack is to order a side of the house made noodles, steamed baby bokchoy, and wontons in chili oil and make my own noodle bowl

Food was tasty and quick. No photos on the menu here - it's pretty authentic. Plates were ideal for sharing.

The overall value of this place is 5 stars. I am already looking forward to my next visit. The sad thing to me is that I can't believe it took me this long to come to A&J. Food: the two of us ordered 7 things and the total came out to be under $50 before tip. Everything was tasty. I have no complaints on any of it, but if I had to give one constructive feedback it would be that the soup dumplings wasn't really soupy (like they are at Bob Shanghai). The rest of the spread included: 1. spicy wonton- delicious 2. thousand layer pancake - delicious, cripsy and chewey. It's not really flavorful, but it hits the spot for me. 3. smoked chicken - smoky flavor is absolutely on point for me 4. soup dumplings - per above 5. seaweed/sprouts in vinegar - fresh and sour and delicious 6. rice with braised pork and egg and pickled veggies - COMFORT food. Very good. 7. Red bean pastry - two small pastries, warm, not too sweet, so good None of these were over $10, half of these plates were around the $5-6 price point. Ambiance - really no frills. They have duct tape on the seats and on the ceilings. You're not here for the ambiance guys, you're here for the food and the unbeatable prices. They have own parking lot so this is nice (unlike DC places where you circles around for days for parking). They also have "best bargain restaurant award" hanging up on the walls for MANY MANY years. Definitely come and support!!! I'll definitely be back to eat soon!

Washingtonian’s 100 very best list brought us here. The handmade noodles were decent. I didn’t enjoy the food much, my husband, who is a noodle and dumpling fan, enjoyed it. Hence the 4 star. May go in to try other items, and update the review if I change my mind.

We always go to A&J in Rockville, Maryland, which is closer to us, but we have come to this branch only once when our family visited from out of town. The food tastes pretty much the same, and it's always so satisfying! I love love their hot and sour noodles (thick noodles). My husband loves their beef noodle soup. My kids love their minced pork over rice, and pork chops over rice. We also love the sides.

Very plain interior. But the food is outstanding. Get the garlic cucumbers and anything with the wide noodles.

If you didn't know, Chinese culture thinks it's rude if you finish all your food because it's like it's not enough for you and they assume that you need more food to be satisfied. Anyways, my husband and I couldn't help it, it was very good and filling! We did order too much carbs though. Definitely recommend this place, even on a Thursday afternoon/evening it's not packed when we arrived. It's a very peaceful chill atmosphere. You get hot tea to hydrate and they serve bubble tea. I would like to try that next time and I would like to see if they could serve soup dumplings here. Otherwise I'd have to go far to my go to soup dumplings place or go on the hunt for a place in Northern Virginia.

I hate to do this to you, but A&J, we're taking you off from our dining rotation. We have been coming here for years, but it seems as if the quality and the consistency have become an issue on our recent visits. Some dishes seemed to not have the usual seasoning, the preparation seemed to be haphazardly done, and the flavors are just not there anymore. On our most recent visit, our fried chicken, that we usually love, was raw. When this was 're-done', it seemed as if they just threw it in the fryer again to cook it longer, but it was just overcooked and inedible. Service has always been friendly and efficient. No dice, A&Js. +RAW chicken served +inconsistency in food preparation

Love their dan dan noodles (spicy sesame noodles)! My boyfriend and I always get the thick (you can choose thick or thin) dan dan noodles whenever we order. It's creamy, nutty, and the noodle texture is great. We've never eaten inside (at either of their locations), but wouldn't be opposed to it! It's just more convenient to pick-up. Other dishes I like to get occasionally are the vegetarian delight, fried pork chop and fried chicken, which I've only tried from their Maryland store, but I assume they're the same here. The thousand year egg with tofu wasn't my jam, but it wasn't bad! Highly recommend A&J for great food!
