It’s rare that you can feel discrimination in the DMV area. Seats are separated by “who u are”. You can tell that she told us only sat this side, while she asked other customer “where do you want to sit”, we waited 15mins for the appetizer to arrive, which at the beginning we thought they probably will come with our meal, nope we were so wrong, everyone came after us got their food immediately… just the whole meal the vibe around us was not great. Not sure what we did, we have been to so many Korean restaurants in Annandale, this is the first time we felt like this. Food is good, but we will never go there again.

The good was pretty good-- they've got a solid seafood pancake and their noodles are quite good. The only problem was the service. The seating seemed a bit segregated, our food took significantly longer to arrive than other tables, and our server checked in less than others despite our sizeable order. I can't say for sure that our racial makeup was a factor, but I don't know that we'll be returning.

Service is really bad and they are blunt! Unpleasant! Place is so smelly and needs good ventilation.

I was stationed in Korea for a long time.
This almost brought me to tears - the ambiance, the food, the experience was wonderfully surreal. Everything was excellent, but by far the grilled mackerel is the King of entree's!!!! Hallelujah!! Beer was good too.
(This used to be at a different location but it had burned down. So glad that they came back!)

Was craving bossam and this place got it. The fried dumplings were bigger than I expected. They don't serve hot water though, only bottled water.

Warm cozy environment with great food! Felt so taken care of and the portions were huge. Shout out to the side dishes because they were all so delicious!
Glad they rebuilt after the fire. Love the food especially their seafood pancake!

New Tosokjib focuses on traditional Korean fare, and the food js consistently good. The menu has a decent variety of options, and a couple of the stews and scallion seafood pancake are good. For non-spicy diners, recommend the samgaetang (chicken stew) and mandoo-kook (dumpling soup).
On the downside, the restaurant is really no frills. The service leaves much to be desired and is downright cold. Good luck asking for extra napkins. You will get a death stare along with a couple of kiddie napkins.

Very good, very quick service!
New Tosokjib is a solid spot for Korean food. The portions are large and great for sharing, especially the bossam, which was tender, flavorful, and the highlight of the meal. The rich soybean paste soup was just okay.
Service was efficient and courteous, and the overall dining experience was smooth and satisfying. A good choice if you’re looking for a authentic Korean meal in the area.
It tastes good and is good value for money.

This place used to be better before they moved locations. I need to share a bizarre experience I had with the waitress, this middle-aged Korean woman.
I went with my husband and we ordered the bossam and doenjang jjigae. She asked if we wanted white rice or barley rice, and then quickly stated after that they only had white rice. I didn’t think much of it as she came over with our bossam quickly after and handed us one white rice.
Soon after a group of three older Korean women walked in and sat behind our table. I could hear the waitress taking their order and asking them what kind of rice they wanted, to which they answered barley. She proceeded to reach into the rice warmer and hand them all barley rice.
The next time she came to our table I asked her for one barley rice. She came over and handed me white rice. I didn’t want to make a scene and ruin our dinner vibe, so I didn’t say anything and was just very confused why she lied to me about the rice. I also spoke to her in Korean the entire time, so there was no chance she didn’t understand what I was saying. It was a bold lie and unfortunately made me think that she probably discriminated against younger customers and likely those that didn’t speak Korean, thinking they wouldn’t know any better. I’m not sure what her deal was with the rice. At the end of the day, I don’t care that much about the rice but her lying about it was so strange and unnecessary.
She also ended up charging us two dollars for the white rice I didn’t ask for. Kind of ridiculous because the bossam and soup together costed us over fifty dollars. You would think for two people ordering two dishes that cost that much we would each get our own rice complimentary. Keep in mind that this is not by any means a fancy or nice restaurant, it’s a very simple and no frills type of place, so the fact that she charged us two bucks for the wrong type of rice I don’t ask for was just absurd.
My family used to come to the OG location when I was growing up and the quality of the food is also not the same. The blatant discrimination in service provided by the rude waitress is unacceptable and we will not be coming back.

MIL got deadly sick from the fish. Threw up all night and had to go to the doctor. Most likely old fish.
