The steak and cheese was okay I definitely can taste a difference in the meat compared to a few other places who are supposed to be famous for their steak and cheeses. For the price and taste it was disappointing. I ordered their BBQ Pizza and was really disappointed there. Menu clearly states it comes with onion as well as the BBQ. Rather than admit they messed up they tried to say the BBQ is cooked with onions...Won't be returning.----In response to the reply to my review, there will not be another chance to make things right as when I did voice my complaint I was told everything was correct and I was the one who was wrong.

I've been going to Mario's since the 60s... I met Lefty shooting pool at the billiards place on the corner of Glebe and Wilson in the mid 60's and he told me about Mario's, and said he worked there... so I decided to give it a try. Man! My first order was the Lefty special, and I was hooked. For the next 20 years, I went there 2 or 3 times a week except for 1 year when I lived in Idaho. In the 80s, I got married and moved to the Fairfax/ Springfield area and had to limit my visits, but I still tried to get there at least once a month. I started going to the franchise location they opened in Merrifield, which was ok, but not as good... then, something happened in the 90's with their bread... I guess they changed suppliers, but it just wasn't the same... but was still the best steak and cheese in the area. Seems like every year starting in 2000, the price went up, and the quality went down. After Lefty and Charlie left, it wasn't the same. I tried them again a month or so ago with a friend... total disappointment! Subs and drinks for the 2 of us with a side of fries to split was over $50!!! The quality was nowhere near what it used to be. If they cut the prices in half, they might be worth still going to, but at their current price to quality ratio, they're just not worth it. It's sad too: been my favorite place for over 50 years... but now they're way too expensive for the mediocre quality they've become.

This place has gone from a neighbor pizza shop with Lefty and Joe to a gross hole in the wall. No character. Every inch covered with plexiglass and stupid posters. $13 for 2 slices. Close to $25 for a cheese steak. Sad to see.

I grew up coming to Mario's. It was always good. I enjoyed the location. The food was good. I enjoy it when I have the chance to come to Arlington to be able to come to Marios. But I don't know if I will be coming back, because small steak and cheese is now $15. A large is $20. 4 pieces of pizza, $15 with no toppings. It's like the price is gotten to be too much for the average person for lunch or dinner. I miss Joe and Lefty. It's not the same old Mario's.

Ok I been coming to this place for over 15 years and never had an issue with the food, but I just visited with my fiance, and we both agreed that the food took a negative dive.We Don't visit as frequently since covid, but it's completely different now. We got the house special 2 slices of small square pizza and a drink for almost $20 with an added drink. The place looks better since structure updates, but that doesn't really mean much. No restrooms for paying customers still ? ? we will try the stake and cheese next to see if there's a difference in that also.

This place will go down soon, I guess nothing lasts forever! Too bad, it was my favorite place for steak and cheese, I wouldn't even try it anywhere else. They really screwed up a good thing here. It shows how much a new management can screw up a good thing. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Too late now, the reputation has been stained.
