I came in on a Sunday morning and my order was immediately taken. The young lady who served me gave me a lot of information about the menu and specific flavor combinations that went well together. I had been to the restaurant a few times before but her advice made we want to try the new Indian plates on the menu. I ended getting the paneer butter masala plate and was greatly impressed. I will definitely be visiting RASA again. The food and service is great and the servers really do take their time to ensure you feel welcome.

I went in on a Monday night and had a great experience with my server. She greeted me promptly and gave me the utmost patience as it was my first time at the restaurant. She noticed my confusion and offered to explain the restaurants concept and menu to me. She even helped me navigate the menu despite having a gluten allergy. Food is great and the ambiance is nice, however, the person helping us was very unfriendly and rude. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon and no one was at the store. She was acting like she is doing us a favor by working there. This is a typical service industry situation in the DC area when people dont take pride in what they do. We are not even demanding or ask a lot of questions. We were the only ones there and she acted annoyed that we came in. Of course, after such an encounter I wouldn’t want to be back despite the food being delicious.

I’ve been to Rasa many times, but never felt compelled to leave a review. Every time it’s been great—kind and fast service, good food, and clean tables and floors. This time, unfortunately, was different.
My group of four walked into the restaurant and up to the counter to order, and were greeted with: “What do you want?” Not a great start, but not a terrible one, I guess. My wife and I ordered our bowls and paid just fine. When our friends, who are vegan, went to order, they kindly asked “What are the vegan options on your menu?” The employees response was “We don’t have very many. Only the cauliflower quinoa bowl.” It took about four minutes of back and forth for them to finally figure out which items on the bar were actually vegan. The menu is marked with a non-descriptive “(V)” or “Veg.”
But this time, my wife and I had sat down. We opened our bowls and began eating, only to find a baby roach running across the table, which is something I had never experienced before.
Our friends sat down next to us and we began eating. As we ate, we watched one of the two employees climb a ladder up to a perch above the register and sit down, hanging his dirty shoes directly above the food. He sat there for about 5 minutes before moving the ladder with his feet to climb down. Unsafe and highly unsanitary. While he sat up there, a crowd of customers had formed waiting to be helped, and the one employee helping them was moving extremely slow and barely communicating.
To top all of this off, the ice machine was not working and our fountain drinks were room temperature.
All around, we had an extremely disappointing experience at a restaurant we regularly eat at, and I’m sad to say that it was our first time bringing these particular friends, who did not have a very positive first impression.
On a positive note, the food was very good, as always. My one complaint was that the naan was not fresh, but that’s neither here nor there.
We will have to think twice before returning to this location. As someone who has spent many years working in the customer service industry, the employees working this shift need some additional training.
Went there with my family since two of us are gluten sensitive. Healthy food served in a warm atmosphere, with fun variety beyond your standard Indian Restaurant. Fast service, Easy to eat gluten free with many choices, and reasonable prices. Definitely a favorite of mine and one kid, so it is pretty darn good. Ate here two days in a row!!!
