Delicious Thai Cuisine & Exceptional Service!
Thai in Shirlington is an absolute must-visit! The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic, with the perfect balance of spices and fresh ingredients. I had the Green Curry, which was rich, creamy, and packed with fragrant Thai flavors. My niece enjoyed the King Pad Ped, a delightful dish with just the right amount of heat, and we both loved the refreshing Thai Tea—smooth, sweet, and perfectly brewed.
A special shoutout to our server, Jui, who made our experience even better! Jui was warm, attentive, and provided excellent recommendations. The service was impeccable, and the cozy ambiance made it even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for amazing Thai food in the DMV area, this is the place to go! We’ll definitely be back.

I was the Thailand desk officer at the Department of State. The Thai Green Curry here (perhaps the most universal Thai dish other than Pad Thai) resembled green coconut soup. Nuff said. 100% Thai food for suburbanites. One time was enough. If you want better Thai food, try Esaan in McLean or Rice in the District.
Update to my original 5 star review... I should start off by saying i have been a faithful patron of this restaurant for 14 years.... and I rarely leave bad reviews but today's experience was very troubling.

I am so disappointed to have to update this review but my experience today at Thai in Shirlington was terrible and unacceptable. I will just state the highlights both positive and negative.
1. Wonton soup is stilll delicious. 2. My son loved the tofu bites.
Everything beyond that was simply unacceptable and not what i have grown to love about Thai in Shirlington.
1. The glasses of water given to us when we arrived were dirty. All 3! My son's had dried rice on the glass and my daughter and I, both found dirt on them. When i ordered our drinks, I asked for "to go cups" to prevent getting more dirty glasses.
I veered away from my usual (spicy eggplant) and ordered their ginger stir fry as it was reccomended by the server - and it was awful. 1st, it was not hot, second it looked like steamed veggies and some strange sauce were poured on it and had absolutely NO flavor and hardly any ginger. I ate a piece of the tofu and a piece of broccoli and had to stop. When my server asked how it was, i told him not great and he said he was so sorry and walked away. Literally walked away! Did not even offer to fix it.
Three minutes later another server(not my original) came by and I told her I did not like it and to please remove it from my bill. I had not touched it much or the rice that came with it at all. She said she would talk to her manager. She then came back and said she would reduce the price by 25% which i found puzzling. I did not eat or like the dish!
She then came back again but told me that it was removed but that the manager said, "Next time I don't like a dish, I should let the server know BEFORE ordering" ...my mouth dropped. I could not believe what came out her mouth.
The manager came by 3 minutes later to further justify the actions of her server (conpletely baffled at this point - and highly upset)
I also heard the table behind me (also faithful customers - who I overheard just left a funeral!!! Yes a funeral..., and were overcharged. The manager treated them terrible as well.
Needless to say - this is not the experience I am accustomed to having and had to update my review below. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
Delicious wonton soup, spicy egg plant was pretty good - not as spicy as i would have liked. Service from Ms. Lin was fantastic.

Delicious food. Very attentive servers. We had the assorted dumpling appetizer, Lemongrass Crusted Salmon, and red curry shrimp. This is a place to come back to!

The chicken is always undercooked and tastes horrific, i had both the drunken noodles and the orange curry. Currently under anxiety for potential salmonella

We didn't have a reservation, walked in, and were seated in a few minutes. The service was amazing. Kai did a great job of taking care of us. My wife had the pine apple fried rice and I had the panang curry. It has to be the best we've ever had. It was so good. I wanted to eat the entire thing in one sitting, but the portions are large.

This has been one of our favorite restaurants for years!! I love the panang and ginger lemon iced team! It’s so good - take out or in the restaurant, it’s always a hit with our family - even our 8 year old! My husband appreciates the gluten free options! He loves the pad Thai!
Dietary restrictions: They do have a lot of gluten free options - just ask!

I order from this place often, but recently had an issue with the GrubHub order. When I contacted the restaurant, they remade the food and delivered it themselves. I am grateful for their service and always delicious food. I recommend ordering directly with the restaurant.

A+ Thai food. Had the Panang curry, shrimp pad Thai, and Pad See Ew noodles, and all were fantastic. Sorta disappointed they don’t have crab Rangoon but that’s ok. Too many other places use the super thin noodles for pad Thai which ruins the dish. I’m very glad this restaurant uses conventional noodles.
Vegetarian options: Everything can be ordered without meat, seafood, or egg.
