We ate here in the early evening before the dinner rush in order to take advantage of the 1/2 priced wine and were NOT disappointed. The wine list is well curated and includes a fantastic selection from all over Italy. Richard and his team were attentive to our needs. They provided prompt service and excellent food (what we ordered). Will return the next time we are in Alexandria, or anywhere close by.

The Portofino is truly a gem. Amazing northern Italian cuisine with outstanding, attentive service and a wonderful ambience. Everything is superb but I am particularly fond of the veal dishes. When people ask me to name a favorite restaurant of mine, the answer is a little northern Italian place in Crystal City (Arlington), VA!
