True Food Kitchen

Another great experience at TFK! Seasonal menu was so good, our server was fantastic, and our food came out fast and exactly what we ordered. Love the vibe here- we stayed for a few hours hanging out and celebrating (a birthday). Our waitress even brought us a dessert with a candle for my friend's birthday because I noted it was a special occasion in my OpenTable booking.

I have been to True Food Kitchen 3 times. The food and service are always good. But the noise is bad. Noise level can be used to turn tables quickly but when the noise is high and you have empty tables this can lead to lost revenues. We passed on dessert because of the noise. We will not be back because of the noise as well. It is difficult to have a consistent conversation when the noise is that loud. Good luck and still love the good and service. Thanks.

I usually love True Food and especially love the grain bowl, but it was not as good as my past experience. The sweet potatoes had a thick, overly sweet glaze on them, and the feta I asked for to accompany the bowl had gone slightly bad. It just wasn't as good as usual.

Food was excellent. Nice portions. Plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options without skimping on flavor.

I got the turkey burger. It was pretty good, the bread is too thick for my liking.

Easy going vibes with a DC price tag. The she crab soup was just ok, but the poke bowl was worth a return visit. My server was adequate--a tad distracted. Overall, the restaurant wasn't the best ever, but it seems reliable, and I'd definitely go back.

It was dirty and when asking about the cleanliness, was told the night people handles that

the food is fair. 'ol college try with some weirdness. but nothing particularly good. nice patio. nice dining room. nice service.

True Food locations can be hit or miss. La Jolla Village in San Diego nails it...fast service, great food. Ballston isn't as consistent and when busy, service can be slow. I’ve ordered crispy pizza at other locations with perfect results, but here both the pepperoni and spinach & mushroom came out doughy, more like a standard bar pie. The saving grace is the atmosphere... outdoor seating is perfect for cocktails, conversation, and people-watching.

We had a great family dinner with delicious food and excellent service. The server (Henry) was very attentive to the several allergies at our table. But one of us had significant allergies/sensitivities and realized that they could not have any of the desserts (coconut and tree nut allergy). After going through the menu with a finetooth comb, the waiter discussed the situation with the manager (Kevin) who went to a neighboring restaurant and picked out a dessert from there (free of charge). We appreciate them going above and beyond.

Beautiful patio at this location, there is some construction in the area so we moved to the bar. The bartender, Cristian, had great suggestions even though I have allergies and my friend is a picky eater, highly recommend the Dumplings and Cauliflower.

The attention to detail is appreciated, area was clean, food was tasty, service wasn't rushed, doesn't hurt that they have great cocktails and zero Proof options.
