I couldn’t imagine going here to have a good time when one of your wine makers is celebrating the senseless murder of somebody on the Internet. This guy needs to be fired. Daniele Tessaro celebrating over the murder of Charlie Kirk

Second visit. We were in Charlottesville for a triathlon and planned to visit Barboursville for bubbly to celebrate. Do NOT miss! We sat outside enjoying bubbles, an Octagon tasting and charcuterie. So impressed by the history, wines and service.

Five star vineyard. An automatic entry into our top 3! We enjoyed a guided tasting through 12 wines - definitely one of the more informative tastings we have had. You don’t see this everywhere, so much appreciated, learning along our wine journey.
The wine- all spectacular, 5 dry whites, 5 dry reds a fantastic sparkling and an off-dry desert. Came home with several. There are more reserves- figured we’d leave some to try next time.
Enjoyed a nice afternoon in the “Library” with a nice meat board, gourmet sliders and a reserve Petit Verdot.
Trekked up to the ruins of Gov Barbour’s estate (built by Thomas Jefferson) afterwards. Very cool piece of history.
Definitely a must do when you come to the area. Will be back.

Stayed here in 2015, still pissing me off Stayed at one of the cottages. Must have had a staff shortage Trash from last guests still in the room and the complimentary breakfast in frig soured milk and stale food. Restaurant has same complaints then and now I see either was closed or when open over priced, wine is mediocre at best . The ruins should be their mascot , something that looks like it’s great but that’s all there is with this place. Do a drive by and move on down the road

This winery is unbelievable. Cannot recommend it enough. The staff is so funny and kind and attentive. The wines are truly great (try Nascent white blend or their signature red blend). The food is delicious (try the scallops or the bison at the Palladio). The wine maker, Luka, is even walking around talking to customers and it’s such a pleasure hearing his story.

I am super sad to learn this fabulous “French” wine superstar has found the need to “oak” the most unoaked grape in Virginia…Pinot Gris, seriously?
You must have lost your train of thought, OR, perhaps you need to be From a place(Italy) that just truly appreciates the taste of a wonderful grape, in its true form.
Super disappointed here

Lovely! Perfect fall day with some very nice wines. Service was knowledgeable, friendly, and just good. We'll be back for dinner and a stay.

Was a bit crowded, but still plenty of parking and seating all throughout. The staff were great explaining where we could sit and what we could order. They make a great syrah that I really enjoyed out on the deck. I wished they did charcuterie for other areas beside their library, we had to make shift one.

We enjoyed the Truffel Feast menu and the accompanying wine, everything was amazing. As always, Katie had the setting looking stunning, pair tables perfectly, and Chef Michael and staff made an impeccable meal. I'm looking forward to the Octagon Dinner in December.

Decent place, but they sell bottles for >$80 that are sold at Wegmans and Costco for $50. Infuriating that despite the much larger margin, they’re trying to rip off the people that actually travel to their winery. Won’t go again.
