Pit Stop Italian Restaurant

My husband and I were passing through the area on our way to Florida and we happened upon this AMAZING place! The staff was friendly the service was fast and the food was delicious! We had the calzones and let me just say they were huge and the price was absolutely reasonable. The overall experience with this restaurant was FANTASTIC! I would definitely recommend it!

As a whole, I love the restaurant and I'm thankful we have an option like this in our small county. Unfortunately the to-go order system was a little flawed the other night...Was told 30 minutes. My husband went after that time frame and still had to wait 30 more minutes. When he arrived, one of our pizzas hadn't even been placed into the oven. We also didn't receive a salad that was ordered. We weren't charged for it because my husband wasn't aware I had ordered it. Hopefully this was a rare occurrence and just an off night. We always enjoy our food.

Food for the most was good. I almost always order onion rings or fried green tomatoes. Sometimes I order both. I always ask for a cup of ranch with each. For some reason today the little girl in there had an attitude and would only give one. She said you only get one cup. If you spend that much money in an establishment they could at least give you a .50 cent cup of ranch. I would have even paid for it. I'm not paying for the attitude.

I am extremely disappointed in this place. I’ve been wanting to try this place since they opened, but I always seemed to be pulling in to park the truck after they’d already closed.

On 11/22/24 I finally decided to give them a try as I didn’t care for the wind ahead of me and was running short of time anyway. When the menu was dropped off I was quite pleasantly surprised at the menu options. I decided on an appetizer sampler platter and a Stromboli with sweet tea.

I was a little perturbed that they would not entertain the notion of swapping a few onion rings for the fries, particularly since the price seemed to be comparable, and was not surprised to find that everything was food-truck delivered, frozen faire. Not bad, but definitely not fresh either.

The Stromboli was a completely different matter, however. First and foremost, it was not a Stomboli at all, but a calzone with some marinara sauce spooned in. They used very low quality ingredients, and not much of it to boot. The crust was sub par for a calzone (and completely incorrect for a Stromboli), the pepperoni and sausage were so bland that they were undetectable, and I had to request extra sauce.

What really buttered my bread was having to beg the waitress to come by so I could request a second cup of marinara and a drink refill. After I was done eating, I sat for about 45 minutes to an hour unattended and ignored with the table uncleared, drink empty, and no indication that the either of the two young servers had any intention of asking if I would perhaps enjoy desert or a coffee (regardless of the snow, I REALLY wanted a milkshake). Instead, they just sat on their butts behind the register, having a conversation while completely ignoring all 4 tables that were occupied. That’s when I decided I’d had enough and wrote this review.

So, great menu, solidly mediocre food, and horrible service. Would I try again? Perhaps, as other reviews seemed to believe the Phillies here were good. We’ll see, I guess.

Edited to add; I finally got fed up after an hour and 15 minutes of being ignored and, upon asking for assistance, got a nasty attitude from the waiter who refused to be of any service as he “wasn’t my server”, and then was belittled and berated by the waitress when she came by (presumably after being told to come over by the young man) as she explained that all the other tables seemed to believe she was doing a fine job. She then informed me that she had checked on me “four or five times” although the ONLY time she came by was when I had to raise my voice to attract her attention from across the restaurant, and once to bring a to-go box that I had not requested, nor even indicated was needed.

She also indicated that once they collect the menus, that’s the indication that the customers are done ordering, so I suppose that in her mind people may never decide to get anything post-dinner, change their mind, or decide to grab something to go. Nope, no more menu, no more service for you. Ever. She then said “I’m not going to listen to this” and stalked off, never to return.

Listen, chicky, when presented with a problem, you listen, you comprehend, you take corrective action, and then you apologize. You NEVER treat your customers with disrespect or walk off in a huff when they attempt to express their dissatisfaction with your terrible attitude and even worse service. Never. Loose the attitude; you lost your tip because of it. But I’m sure it’s all my fault for simply waiting patiently.

So, I decided to change my mind. I won’t be returning. If I wanted to be abused like this, I’d have stayed married.

After driving 11 hours today, i wanted to sit and eat some good dinner . I got here as they were about to close, so i had to take my order to go. I know the cook was tired because she was the only cook. And they didn't give any attitude and made my meal. The spicy Philly sandwich was really good. A lot of places say their food is spicy and it usually isn't. These jalapeños were perfect and combined well with the sandwich. When i remembered to take a picture, i had already eaten my onion rings. If you want to eat well and pay good prices this place is perfect. 10/10 i will be coming back when I'm in the area and i will be back earlier so i can eat inside! Thank you down shift diner, the food was great!

What a great little diner this is!! My Miata Car Club stopped for lunch. Over 50 people & they handled it great & with a smile!! If you’re ever near here give them a try. I had the burger. Not good. Not horrible but definitely not good like other reviews have said. Was totally disappointed with the food. Tasted like frozen processed garbage that you can get at almost any mediocre restaurant in the nation.. a little better than fast food I will give it that..The service was good. People were friendly.
