I rated this place 5 stars in every way but you have to know what you’re getting into. My yuppie family was passing through on our way to Charleston with hungry children, so I did a frantic “Open Now” restaurant search and found this place.The Appalachian Trail literally runs beside this restaurant, so “outpost” is a great name. If I had been hiking 600 miles I couldn’t imagine a better place to stop and load on the hot food calories. The burgers were cooked perfectly...read full review

Stop here on your I-77 road trip, get a burger and tots. It’s a tiny diner that mostly caters to Appalachian trail hikers, but it’s a nice change of pace from truck stop McDonalds. The owner is delightful to talk to.
