The place has a really cool aesthetic, but the service on my visit was awful (on a Monday). I ordered the chocolate and wine flight, and after 30 minutes I was brought the cheese and wine flight.I came back later, and the service was much better. The brie wheel and the dip platter were both delicious.

I'd never been to Blacksburg Wine Lab while I was a student at Tech, so it was super fun to come back for a visit and try it out! I like how it's a bit tucked away from the rest of the restaraunts, however parking is a challenge. The vibe inside is pleasant and our server was nice and funny. Wine & cheese flight - Was awesome! I wish it was served with some more crackers for the cheese though. Also, the price charged (23) was different than the price listed on the menu (19). Pimento deviled egg - Good! Nothing too crazy. Roasted potatoes - Also good but nothing special! I enjoyed the herb aioli. Baked brie - Ugh, I wanted to love this so bad. But between the poached pear and miso honey, it was just way too sweet. This needed some flaky sea salt or walnuts or something to add some more depth of flavor. Ube matcha cake truffle - Decadent and delicious. The ube and matcha were aweosme and tasted authentic. The cherry compote complemented it perfectly. The (presumably) white chocolate coating that the matcha sits on is just a bit too rich and sweet for the ube though. Reuben - My partner said this was good. He got the butternut squash soup as a side which was unique, didn't taste like most butternut squash soup does. Oysters - Tried one of each kind. The Rappahannock was my favorite. Served with all the fixins.

I've heard so many great things about The Wine Lab for many years now, but have never come until tonight! Came here with my mom on a Friday night with no reservation. It wasn't too busy, but you can make reservations via their website. The ambiance is really nice and not too upscale. It is comfortable and provides for a nice dining experience. The service was decent, a little slow, but it was still attentive. Our server was very nice. The food is presented well, with aesthetic elements to it. We started with the dip plate where you can choose 3 dips out of their selection. It is served with warm pitas, pretzel chips, and crackers. We opted for the house made pimento cheese, black garlic whipped feta, and smoked trout. All three were really satisfying, with bold flavors. The pimento was really good and worked nicely with the pretzel chips. Their whipped feta is different compared to other whipped fetas we've had. The texture is more similar to a mousse and the garlic was strong, but not overpowering. It was really good and was my mom's favorite of the three! The smoked trout wasn't disappointing either. It had a smokiness to it with notes of dill. Next was the adventurous board which included grilled halloumi, cambozola blue cheese, duck rillette, speck, and accoutrements. This was a great charcuterie board and we both enjoyed pairing the various elements of the board with each other. The apricot jam and berry-like jam worked best with the cambozola blue cheese. The saltiness of the speck paired nicely with the mustard and dull flavors of the halloumi. The duck rillette was really great, with a nice fattiness to it, providing a lot of flavor. The accoutrements were also great, really enjoyed the bread (which was served warm), the Marcona almonds, and the pickled veggies! I had the spicy Tasso ham sandwich, which was unexpectedly really, really tasty. The sandwich was served warm and included copious amounts of Tasso hand, cheese blend, caramelized onion, and hot honey on focaccia. The Tasso ham is definitely a more elevated type of ham with a richer, smokier flavor. The melted cheese blend and caramelized onions were really yummy, but the honey ultimately tied all the flavors together! I really, really loved the hot honey and it worked perfectly with the flavors of the Tasso ham. I also appreciated that it was served warm. This was definitely a step up from your regular ham and cheese! Overall, the Wine Lab is a nice establishment here in Blacksburg. Blacksburg definitely lacks in the food scene, but the Wine Lab is one of the better options available around! The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is clean. The charcuterie was presented nicely and the various components of the board worked well together. All three dips were satisfying and very different from one another. My ham sandwich was super tasty, with bold, complimenting flavors. We enjoyed our meal here and agreed it was one of the better places to eat in Blacksburg, look forward to returning!

The most "adult" (not meaning X rated! LOL) place in Blacksburg. There were some young people, but it's not a college kid hangout. Great cocktails, nice wine, and yummy snacks.

This place has an absolute terrible menu. Half of what they serve is awful seafood literally out of cans, i. e. canned sardines, oysters, calamari, etc and crackers for $20+ . It was hard to choke it down. One and done, I'll never return to a joint that passes fish bait off as fine dining! People are raving about the ambiance, this place has tables crowded together, concrete floors and high ceilings, its extremely loud, no ambiance whatsoever. The wine was OK, but that was over priced as well. BEWARE I had to come back and edit my review after reading all the unbelievable 5-Star reviews. Those reviews must have been made by employees or paid reviewers

Nice place to enjoy drinks or dinner. They have curated wine flights that explore different regions - I was impressed that they even had one for the wines of Lebanon a few months ago! The cheese and charcuterie are sourced from a variety of places allowing you to also explore different small businesses/regions, and the boards are put together beautifully. They also sell chocolate, and was happy to see Ritual represented (though granted, not their dark chocolates).Dietary restrictions: Anything can be made gluten free upon request. They are good about asking the table if there are any allergies up front so you don't forget.

Great wine selection. We were able to taste white wines from all over the world and ended up getting a bottle from Hungry which was fun and eclectic. Their food is good too, we got the dip platter and baked Brie. The woman working was extremely nice and knowledgeable. We went during lunch during VTs holiday break so it wasn't busy but for dinner it can get packed. They also have some fun events each month which I highly recommend.

We visit Blacksburg frequently and were looking for somewhere that would be good for some in our group that just wanted a little something while some were pretty hungry. We all wanted a nice drink! The Blacksburg Wine Lab was perfect! The oysters were shucked to order and delicious, the seafood tins were yummy and fun, and cheese plate was beautifully presented! Those who were really hungry had awesome sandwhiches. And terrific wines, flights to try along with pairings were perfect for a fun evening! Will be going back on my next visit to Blacksburg!

Blacksburg Wine Lab is one of my favorite places in Blacksburg! They have great wine flights and charcuterie boards. I also recommend the baked brie! During the weekdays, this place is my go-to for lunch special. It's definitely worth trying the french onion sandwich with today's soup. ? The price is very reasonable and you get to try great selection of wines. The staff is friendly too.

Showed up on a Friday night at 545 pm, and the restaurant and bar was busy. Wanted to sit at bar but no seats. The hostess told us 8 pm before a table would be available. Had no problem with that since they were busy. Went to another restaurant for an hour and came back, saw 2 seats at the bar, and started to sit down. Was told by bartender that the seats were reserved. I have never been to a restaurant that reserve bar seats, and why didn't they tell us that when we first tried. I'm all for places being busy, but inform your guests of the other possibilities. I would have given a 1 star rating but have been here before, thus rating on that experience.

There was a PARASITE or some sort of bug on my OYSTERS! I should have taken a photo but the server took it away when I told them. The serve didn’t even apologize and just said “its okay to consume” I feel like the server was also not professional since our table was younger side compared to other tables.

Very cool concept in there but sadly did not get everything I order not to mention how hard it was to order anything at all kept having to go up to the counter to order and everything we did get took forever to come out ended up spending like 3 hr her just waiting and still did not get everything we ordered. All the servers seemed annoyed except one he had a smile on his face and was joking with customers the entire time.
