Went here after a Virginia tech game it was very cozy. The vibe was great everyone celebrating the tech victory! Jukebox played a lot of sing along songs so everyone was singing and having a good time which is always fun! The food was very good for a bar/cafe and the drinks were good as well. No table service at this time you go up to the bar and order and they bring you your food to your seat which was no problem. The food surprisingly came out fast for how many people were in there! Great place to hangout!

best cheese fries in blacksburg!! I usually go on fridays because all appetizers are $4 (but wings aren't included in that usually). there are 40 cent wings on sunday, thursday, and saturday, which is a great deal! they have pool tables and darts which are fun, and if the upstairs is too crowded then go downstairs, there's more seating but they do allow smoking downstairs so if that's something that bothers you just be aware. not the cleanest or most pleasant atmosphere but it is a bar in a college town so what can you expect. food is amazing and I will miss champs dearly when I graduate! *I will say that I usually leave by 8 at the latest so I can't attest to the atmosphere at night*

The bar tenders here are great and the food is good its a little dirty but it's dive bar and the grime adds to the over all experience. My only problem with champs, and the reason I'm only giving two stars, is a specific rude and forceful bouncer; I don't know his name but he is bald and covered in tattoos, I've seen him on multiple occasions toss, litterally thow, patrons from the bar for the slightest transgressions and be generally rude to customers for no reason.

Disgusting that they even allow the place to operate. Filthy. Every table is filled with garbage and so is the floor. No one making any attempt to clear the piles of plates and stacks of cups and empty beers. Have stepped on at least 3 chicken wing bones since walking in. Gross and clearly not a place the owners give a s*** about.

This place doesn't even deserve one star. Awful service. Took my girlfriend here for her 21st and they said that they couldn't serve her until midnight (one day after her 21st). Well we didn't wait until midnight. Never going back to this dump that they call a bar. This is Virginia. My girlfriend could buy alcohol at the ABC store on the day before her birthday, but she can't buy alcohol at this dump until the day after her birthday. You will never see me in Champ's. Better off just rename it Loser's

It used to be the go to place to watch football. I understand that if you go on Sunday to watch you favorite team, it will get a little loud. We sat upstairs with other families and the place was not quite full. One group of three were determined to start a fight with other patrons. I mentioned it to the bartender twice (no bouncer up stairs) to no avail. Two families left mentioning that they would never return. The group of about 10 college kids also left vowing to never return. I finally mentioned to the major offender that he needs to tone it down, I have teenagers here. He tried, but couldn't help himself. I am too old to get in bar fights. We would love to try it again, but haven't been back since game two in 16. Sad, it used to be enjoyable, good food and relatively inexpensive. But they need someone to control the people or nobody will go back except that element.

The guy at the door was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Walked in...then walked right back out

Champs is just ok. The food is good like the chicken Caesar salad but the bartender service is slow. The girl working last night was more interested in talking with customer's for long periods of time rather than wait on customers. We left and went to another bar for better drink service

The owner of this bar assaulted my friend, if you go here beware because he put his hands all over her and accused her of breaking the law when she ordered another drink. We called the police and they are facing serious charges.

One of my favorite bars to eat in! I come here for the .40 cent wing special and love the honey bbq wings. Hands down best cheese fries in all of Blacksburg. Only thing they are lacking is a solid happy hour drink special.

Don't let the atmosphere or the college student aged clientele keep you away. The food at Champs is excellent. For me, they have the best cheese steak in town. The cheese fries are great and you can get them as a side if you don't want the full size appetizer. Today I had the grilled cheese deluxe and it was fantastic. A hidden gem on the menu. Sure it's typical college town bar food but it's some of the best Blacksburg has to offer. The only thing missing is a better beer selection but you can't have it all.

A group of us went here after a home game to be greeted by the triad of the two rude waitresses and the short rude bartender. A group of about 10 of us were able to instantly get a table so it was obviously not that busy. I went to the bar to get a pitcher of water for us to rehydrate while we decided on beer/food and the bartenders told me they can't spare any pitchers for water...are you kidding me? There was a pitcher half full of water right in front of us on the bar. I asked them to just fill that one the rest of the way, and they again refused. Then while waiting for one of the previously mentioned rude waitresses someone in our party had their head down on the table - she was quick to come yell at him for that but if we actually wanted to be waited on I'm sure the wait would have been much longer. Bottom line, you're a sports bar in a college town - don't act like it's a burden to serve the crowd you cater to.

A few buddies and I came here for a Thursday night happy hour one night decided that besides being "thirsty" we were hungry as well. So, naturally I opted for the wings because, yes, you guessed it, that's my Achilles's heel. Of course, I ordered the hottest they had. I'll say that I wasn't expecting much from this sports bar that caters to the college crowd. But boy was I wrong. The waiter brought out 12 piping hot wings, and when he placed them on the table, my nostrils flared up and my eyes began to water. I was excited. I took one bite and was impressed. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was perfect; a nice blend of scorching heat and sweetness that I very seldom find in a hot wing. I finished all of them with a nice sweat forming on my brow and my mouth left ablaze. A few other times we ordered the typical bar food, you know, cheese fries and chicken fingers, all of which are very good and lend to the atmosphere of the place. This is by no means a place to bring a date, unless that date involves football jerseys and several other screaming fans. But, as a sports bar, Champs meets the requirements. So, if you're looking for a bar atmosphere with good bar food, champs is a great place to go.

This place is horrendous! While they do offer a lot of games (pool, shuffleboard, etc) and such, their service is just horrible. I would give it 0 stars if I could. A large group of us came here the other day. It is right after graduation so as expected, Blacksburg is a ghost town. Considering the fact that we were bringing business to a place with only a handful of people there before we showed up, you'd think we'd get decent service, but no. The waitress was BEYOND rude. She kept saying something about having to deal with undergrads and serving all the people that came for Graduation all week. I mean I get that it's tiring, but that doesn't mean you can drop the ball and be a j*** to everyone who comes in. It also doesn't mean that ANYONE came to this bar to hear this girl complain about her job. She was short and just so disinterested in doing her job. We wanted to get some food and when we looked at the menu, a girl in our group asked if there was anything gluten free on the menu that she could suggest. She quickly snapped that they "don't serve gluten free food and that she should go somewhere else like The Cellar." My friend has been to Champs several times before and each time, they have been able to accommodate her needs happily. Truth of the matter is, there were items on the menu that could be made gluten free, but the bartender just didn't seem to want to be bothered by it. We all found it especially rude. My friend decided to not let this lame girl put a damper on her day so she just went to the other room and played some games with the other people we were with. Fast forward to a few minutes later. The guys in our group were getting hungry and decided maybe they'd try to order some food. When one of them went up to order, the girl told him they "didn't have anymore food." WHAT?! She said this to his face as other people around him were getting served all kinds of food. I don't know what her deal was and I really don't care - there's no excuse for that kind of behavior. I wish we would have said something to the manager because her attitude was out of control. She SUCKED. We decided to go somewhere else after we finished our drinks because clearly nothing good was going to come of sticking around at this place. All 10 of us left and took our business to some of the other places downtown and we had an easy time getting better service . The thing that baffles me most is that it's SUMMER in Blacksburg. Nobody is here. There's no reason you should act like you are stretched so thin that you can't provide good service. Oh well, lesson learned. Neither of us will ever go to this horrendous bar again and we'll go ahead and let our departments know not to have any functions here either. THE WORST.

The food is very good like most places in Blacksburg and the prices are nice during Happy Hour. However, the bar staff is not always the friendliest but I would have a hard time with dealing with that many drunk people also. The place is pretty run down and could really use an overhaul in the interior. But who I am kidding...we go there to drink and let loose. The upstairs is pretty unbearable during peak hours after 10pm (hot and super crowded) but the cafe downstairs can be a little better (but it is smoking). However, overcrowding is a issue at most bars in Blacksburg.
