Absolutely appalling experience. Came for a tour with my kid VA Tech, the food was good but i think it's my worst experience in a restaurant ever!! we had to wait over 30 mins for an appetizer (meanwhile both tables either side of us received their food before us and were seated after) the server was just rude, not incredibly interested if we needed silverware after having our food served, so food sat there and got cold until she returned with silverware, finally ready to go and she switched my credit card up with another customer and then double charged me with his food as well As mine so even though they gave me a voided receipt I have to call the restaurant and get the additional Money back that was double charged on top of my meal. The food was good but just not worth the hassle .... UGH!

Be wary, because their phone is disconnected and neither their website nor their Google reflects that they are closed for refurbishment. This is as of April 7, 2024.

Caught them on a bad night. Bathroom was out of order, draft beer refrigeration had failed and 4 or 5 of the menu items were not available. Plus bartender seemed to be sedated. We had a drink and went elsewhere. It was a sad place and we won’t be going back. P.S. I’m not a picky guy……

Food was good, wait time and service not so much. On a campus tour we stopped for Lunch on Sunday and despite the town been a bit crowded, this place had space and tables. We sat down and waited at least 20 minutes for a waiter to come (we had to call one out). Appetizers came on time but main dishes (despite ordering them at the same time as appetizers) took about 45 minutes to come (and the restaurant was probably at half occupancy). One of the dishes we ordered was not the right one when it came out and a good practice in a restaurant is that when such errors happen, which you might say is common and acceptable, the reordered dish needs to be put in front of the queue in the kitchen. Well, not this time. We had to wait another 40 minutes for the correct dish to arrive (it was a pizza which takes probably 15 mins top to make). In general the food was tasty and good prices, but you can't really wait an hour and a half (or even more) for one of your dishes to arrive.

The Spinake and Artichoke Dip is a great appetizer. The Gyro and Cellar House Special Pizza are great entrees. It's been a while since I've had ginger ale as a fountain drink, too. This is a good place that seems to be very popular amongst the college students and residents of Blacksburg.

Was in town for a VT event and stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Street level restaurant was packed so we went downstairs to the basement bar and it was awesome. Food and service were good and we didn’t have to wait long for a table. Highly recommend if you are in town

4 of us went out to dinner tonight the restaurant was busy. There was an empty table so we sat down. It was a seat yourself table was clear, but there was still some crumbs on the table. We sat there for 10 minutes or longer as five of the tables were seated around us and served when we got a worker to come over to our table. She said you shouldn't sit down until the tables being cleaned very chastising way, but she had gone to all the other five tables and cleaned their tables and serve them without saying anything to them. We ended up with a different waitress. She was very good, the food was good. We generally have a good time in the restaurant, but the hostess was very rude.

We loved The Cellar. Our server was great and the food was just as perfect. We had the spaghetti and meatballs and the calzone with a Greek salad. Everything was so better than we expected. We will be back!

It's really good! I always love the food and drinks - especially the shrimp dip and I don't even like shrimp usually.

My family and I had the pleasure of dining at The Cellar Restaurant in Blacksburg, Virginia, on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day.It was our very first visit to Blacksburg, a trip prompted by our daughter’s interest in attending Virginia Tech. We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the vibrant college town life than our experience at The Cellar. From the moment we stepped in, we were enveloped in a fun, lively, and engaging atmosphere that truly set the tone for the evening. The service was nothing short of exceptional, striking the perfect balance of attentiveness and warmth, making us feel right at home. Our culinary journey began with appetizers of calamari and curly fries, both of which were a hit at our table. The calamari was perfectly seasoned and cooked, while the curly fries were a delightful twist on a classic favorite. For our main course, we opted for pizza, which was a revelation in itself. The freshness of the ingredients and the skill with which it was prepared shone through with every bite, leaving us savoring the flavors long after the meal had ended. What made the evening even more special was the opportunity for our daughter to experience the fun and bustle of college life in Blacksburg, surrounded by the warmth of her family. It was a glimpse into a potential future that was both exciting and comforting. We are already looking forward to our next visit to The Cellar Restaurant. It’s not just the exceptional food or the impeccable service that draws us back, but the warmth and vibrancy of the atmosphere that makes it a staple in Blacksburg. To the wonderful team at The Cellar, thank you for an unforgettable evening and for making our first visit to Blacksburg truly special.See you again soon!
