My husband, an avid fan of our local IHOP, didn't understand why I was insisting to locate & try Perkins on our road trip. We landed in our seats at 2:30, it took us at least 5 minutes to decide what we wanted to order, my husband craving a smoke asked if he would have time to smoke. Our fantastic hostess assured him he would have time, note we were seated as close as possible to the door. Perkins Restaurant & Bakery offers authentic American made food with a down home feel. The menu features classic morning favorites and generous portions at competitive price points, including a turkey stuffing dinner that is to die for, especially when it isn't Thanksgiving, with amazing new green beans and peanut butter silk pie. The chicken fried steak has good flavor and is very tender. The food is consistently well prepared, though the turkey can be a bit too salty and the mac and cheese a little dried out. The attentive and friendly service elevates the dining occasion, with servers like Patrick and Matt Counts being especially attentive to customers. The convenience of late-night hours makes it an ideal choice, despite occasional drink service lapses.
