Great little stop along i-81. I stopped to stretch my legs and it was well worth the extra time
Pretty scary to cross really… I didn’t see the sign that said only three people until getting to the end (don’t worry there was only two of us), but it made me even more nervous going back. But it was a quick thrill in a cute town, so well worth the stop! I would not want to bring my young kids here, would cause way too much anxiety haha
Very cool! Just a bridge of history

Historic Buchanan Swinging Bridge offers a fun and unique experience, especially for families. Visitors describe it as a "cool place" with an "informative sign" about its history starting in 1851. While some find it "sketchy" with boards feeling like they might "snap," it's considered a "fun little 5 mins." The bridge definitely "swung in the wind and when you stepped on it," living up to its name. It provides "amazing views" of the mountains and the "gorgeous" James River, creating a "peaceful area." Though it doesn't lead to trails, it's a "must-see" and a "small town gem" offering "easy access and parking." The "scenic view" and the "bridge swaying a little" make it "worth to see especially with children."
