Had an amazing group dinner last night! (Also not my first time here. First visit was in 2020 the night I got engaged!) We had a Party of 8. Sara(h) was our waitress and she was amazing and EVERYTHING was outstanding! We will be back again for sure!

We came in for my husband’s birthday. Our table was a hightop table in front of the door.
It wasn’t comfortable and cold air kept blowing on us every time the door opened.
Our waitress was very polite ,but completely forgetful.
She forgot one of the 2 soups that we ordered and never brought out the dinner rolls.
The crab soup was delicious and so was our ceasar salad. When our entrees arrived they were beautiful in presentation, but we both felt like they were a little bland. Not a lot of flavor I would expect from such a highly recommended restaurant.

The four of us had an exceptionally good meal. Cocktails were spot on. Service was exceptional as well.

We had a reservation for our anniversary dinner during our visit to Cape Charles. We’d heard good things about the restaurant and, specifically, that they will accommodate dietary restrictions. I have a very common dietary restriction that has never been an issue in other restaurants, even those who don’t claim to have the high standards of Hook @ Harvey. We noted this in our reservation that was made 2 months ago. We also contacted the restaurant a week prior to our reservation and the chef himself responded and assured us that I would have an entree available.

When we arrived, the server even confirmed my dietary restriction before we even said anything and we thought that was a good sign. However, she then indicates that the only options that would be available to me would be a basic salad on the appetizer menu, which is NOT a meal. When asked if they would have an entree available for me, she went to ask the chef and was told that none of the entrees could be altered. So I would essentially not have an entree to eat, despite us doing our due diligence to allow the restaurant ample time to prepare something.

So we left and will not be returning. I have NEVER had to leave a restaurant because they were not willing to accommodate. How can a chef who claims that their restaurant is "fine dining" and everything is made from scratch be unable to accommodate a simple dietary restriction? I’ve been to many restaurants where the chef was highly competent, flexible and easily prepared a beautiful meal that suited my needs.

This is obviously a case where a chef/owner knows there are limited fine dining options in Cape Charles and simply doesn’t care enough to accommodate his customers.

Con and I had a wonderful meal and dessert. We were celebrating Connie's retirement of 38 years as a special education teacher and coordinator. Tim Brown was a great help with reservations and a remarkable chef. This is a must when visiting Cape Charles. Plan ahead reservations are tough to get.

This was our 20th anniversary. You came so highly recommended. You let us down. Will never, ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. My meal was great, service was great but my husband’s meal was over cooked and then under cooked in a rush to get it back to the table. So, I ate by myself on our 20 anniversary! we were offer a free dessert. Really, celebrating 20 years and you offer a free dessert. This was a once upon n a lifetime event and you ruined it! We will never get it back and will never recommend you!

Greetings Owner Hook@Harvey. This is the husband. Having been a line chef myself in my younger years, I know that anything that comes poorly out of the kitchen is not the servers fault. Your server was nothing more than respectful and apologetic and I was kind and never had any foul words for her explaining it was not her fault. She must have confused me with “another” displeased customer. At any rate, everything was awesome until the end. My meal was not right not once, but twice. I was willing to come back understanding that off nights happen because everything else was so good. But after your despicable accusations, we will never again. Not that you care because that’s obvious.

Fantastic food and service! We look forward to enjoying a meal here every year that we visit Cape Charles because it never disappoints. I highly recommend Hook at Harvey and suggest that you make a reservation as far in advance as possible.

The food is as amazing as the presentation. The service is very friendly and attentive. The dining area is small and cramped. You're so close to other tables and groups, you may as well join in the conversation. This is the premier dining option in the area. Nothing else comes close. I certainly recommend it, if you don't mind the closeness of other patrons.

We arrived early for our reservation, and the host kindly ushered us to the bar and introduced us to the bartender, Mike. Mike makes a *mean* drink! Nice start. We got to our table and met our server, Sara, and wow was she impressive. Knowledgeable, pleasant, and helpful. Between the three of us, we had the mixed greens salad, the Caesar salad, the Vidalia onion soup, the scallops entree, and the kelp-infused fettuccine... and all were terrific (the fettuccine dish was huge!). Then the desserts... holy cow. We highly recommend the peanut butter pie, the bourbon cheesecake, and chocolate flourless torte. What a wonderful experience - we'll be back!

Dietary restrictions: We are pescetarians, one of whom needs to avoid gluten, and our server Sara was very knowledgeable and helpful.
