Reservation must be made. Walk in might be possible.
Beef tenderloin was very great.
Visiting Cape Charles for the first time and celebrated our wedding anniversary with dinner at Hook @ Harvey. What a fabulous evening! Our server, Anna, was stellar. And to say that the food was delicious feels like an understatement. Appetizer: Crab Chesapeake. Entrees: Seafood Fettucine and Jumbo Seared Scallops. Dessert: Creme Brulee. Probably the best seafood meal we've ever had at a restaurant! A 15 out of 10 in our book! Thank you, Hook @ Harvey!
All my research for our short weekend visit to Cape Charles said dinner at Hook @ Harvey is a must. Well color me intrigued! Y'all were not wrong!
Driving up to the restaurant we saw picturesque views of the marina, sailboats, catamarans and a sunset, a perfect start to the evening.
Reservations are a must!
The dining room is small and has an intimate feel. Of note, I can appreciate how the elevated noise level in the small area could affect one's experience. The noise level did slowly and steadily rise during our time there, but did not affect our experience.
Sara our waitress was amazing! Attentive, kind, funny, engaging, and accommodating and she made great recommendations for our stay in the area. She is an absolute gem!
We had the jumbo seared scallops, halibut (fish du jour), peanut butter ganache and pecan praline dessert, key lime dessert, an old fashioned and Malbec. Everything was superbly plated and expertly timed. All food is made in-house which adds to the elevated experience.
Typically I take a lot of photos but, I promised my husband I would be fully present for this experience. So a dessert photo is all you get, this time. We will most certainly return and I promise to take more photos.
I cannot recommend Hook @ Harvey enough when visiting Cape Charles. We will most certainly return.

Very intimate (seats 32 inside) restaurant. Both the food and wine were very good and the atmosphere was charming. On a marina with pretty views. Enjoyed our meal and would return if in the Cape Charles area again.
My man and I went for dinner. The greeter was prompt and friendly. We were early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar while we waited. The bartender was friendly and skilled at preparing me a delicious mocktail. When we were seated for dinner, our waitress was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The chef must be very skillful because our food was the best we’ve had on the shore. Everything was perfect!

Wonderful experience! The location was smaller than expected, but our food quality made up for the tight space. The bonus was leaving our 3 kids behind for once :)

We’ve been regular diners at this restaurant during our visits to our vacation home in Cape Charles and have consistently enjoyed our experiences—until this most recent visit, which was unfortunately quite disappointing.
Despite the relatively normalcy of the dining room, it took over 20 minutes for our non-alcoholic drinks to arrive. The fettuccine, which was described as having “lemongrass undertones,” arrived as a green, clumped-together portion of noodles with minimal flavor. The fish of the day—halibut—was equally underwhelming. Rather than the firm, steak-like cut we expected, it was flaky, watery, and lacked both freshness and flavor, suggesting it may have been previously frozen.
Adding to the frustration, one member of our party fell ill earlier in the day and was unable to attend. While we understand reservation policies, we were still charged $20 for the individual who could not make it—despite the remaining five of us being present.
On the flip side, the rolls were excellent—fresh, warm, and one of the few highlights of the meal.
We also noted that the menu has remained unchanged for the past 2–3 years. While this might be ideal for tourists, it’s becoming increasingly stale for returning guests like us.
We truly hope this was just an off night, as this restaurant has long been a favorite. But unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations in both food and service.

Food and service was quite good, but our experience was markedly diminished by our table location. After having a reservation made three months in advance, on our 44th anniversary, we were seated immediately adjacent to the restroom, behind the hostess’s station. Despite asking twice to be moved, we were told that was not an option. It took 45 minutes from being seated until we received our drinks order. This was on a Wednesday evening. Every time the restroom door opened, there was an olfactory reminder of our table location. What would have been approaching a five star review, is therefore at best three stars.

This place e met the hipe. We have been trying to get a reservation for the past 5 years. We started in May and told our waitress she said to use texts versus voice mail.
Greetings were superior. Our waitress truly enjoyed servicing us, and it showed.
Food could have been hotter when served, but everyone ate everything.
I recommend this place e if you can get a reservation.

From our brief wait on the deck by all the boats and yachts, to an amazing meal inside brought to us by our delightful waitress, Anna-we were just blown away. We even made a brief trip outside to get a couple nice pics with the beautiful sunset 🌇 A truly memorable meal from start to finish! I even found their sherry crab bisque that rivals my favorite of all time she-crab soup at Crab Louies 🦀, that used to be in Midlothian, VA! Thank you for a great birthday meal worth celebrating!! Be sure to call ahead to get your reservation!

Wonderful dinner- especially the crab bisque! We went to celebrate our anniversary while in Cape Charles, and everything was great from the friendly service to the food and drinks.
The crab bisque was out of this world good! Actually everything was so delicious, definitely coming back!

This place is highly overrated. The food is average and very overpriced. We were nonplussed with our meals. The place is small, cramped and very noisy. We were not especially impressed with anything about this restaurant, and we will not return.
