This is the best American restaurant in the Hampton Roads/Eastern Shore area without a doubt. We went twice and the food did not disappoint. The restaurant is small but very intimate with a warm staff. Truly a gem standing out in a sea of mediocrity.

Try the evening specials. It was amazing! Fresh rockfish was our dinner and when there were no 'sides', but it was 'accompanied with' breakfast potatoes and sautéed Brussel sprouts. It was the perfect amount of food. We will definitely visit again.

found this small little café, because it was the only place opened in Cape Charles on a Monday night during the winter. The building was extremely cozy. Our waitress who names escape me, but I know she's a twin, was informative, attentive, and very personable, fantastic weight staff. The food was outstanding, and the desserts were worth every penny to the point where we all wanted to lick our dishes all around highly recommend, and I'm sure during the summer months, the views are spectacular from the attached porch of the bay.

Best meal I have had in years. I travel up and down the East Coast but wait for a fine dining meal here. I ate here after a business meeting. I had to bring the family back for the experience. Best lamb chops anywhere. You have to try the crab bisque.

Amazing food, pan seared rockfish was delicious, perfectly prepared vegetables and sauce, crab bisque also very tasty though portion a lille small. 3 of us all got dessert, each one was outstanding, especially my peanut butter torte. Excellent service, attentive warm and friendly!

Update Beware the new menu in December 2023. Maybe chef was off this night, but meal was a step below our last couple experiences. Mixed grill with rabbit cassoulet is an ambitious dish and, in this case, the kitchen didn't understand the assignment. Duck fat was not fully rendered and the huckleberry gastrique lacked punch. Everything lacked salt. The venison chop was cooked nicely but once again was almost unseasoned. The biggest letdown was the beans. They were swimming in oil with shreds of rabbit floating around. Just zero creaminess and zero flavor. Our server Rachel discounted my entree. Around the table people were furiously reaching for the salt and pepper. Everything was under seasoned. The filet was fine. Chicken was ok. The lamb was excellent and the pumpkin pasta with scallops was a hit. As always service was personal and attentive. Rachel is terrific. Desserts were very good, particularly the peanut butter pie. The "frozen almond soufflé" is the same almond tortoni my mom made in the 1970s and I enjoyed it. So we will be back, but we learned that even the greats can have an off night.

This restaurant was the top recommended one when talking to friends who had visited Cape Charles. We made reservations for our first wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and ended with a dessert and everything was spectacular. The service was great. The place is a little small and loud depending on the guests in attendance. For appetizers we got the ahi tuna, crab bisque and dinner rolls. The tuna could be an entree it was so much and SO fresh. Highly recommend both. For entrees, we both went with the beef tenderloin. It was fantastic and came with whipped potatoes, carrots, broccolini, pumpkin(?), and green beans. For dessert, we went with a chocolate cheesecake with Oreo and kahlua and homemade whipped cream. Omg. It was incredible.

Absolutely loved this place and it was the best dining experience we had in Cape Charles. Love the seasonal menu and the atmosphere is wonderful (ask about the history of the building). Nothing bad on the menu. Our only regret is that we didn’t go 2 nights in a row.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We make a point to come here during any visit to Cape Charles and we are never disappointed. The service is always first rate and the food is exquisite. If you've never been here, you absolutely must come!

Tim and Melanie Brown (chef/owner) have created a wonderful dining experience in Cape Charles Virginia. I was fortunate enough to stop by early, find a seat at the bar and enjoy a perfectly cooked, sautéed veal cutlet. Great food prepared and served by a team that is dedicated to producing an exceptional experience.
