I visited this restaurant through a friend’s recommendation. The food was very clean and had a unique, special flavor. Everything was absolutely delicious. The Yusanseul and the other dishes were excellent as well. I will definitely invite my friends here. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing!
The service here is awesome, and the food tastes incredible. I’ve traveled to many, many countries, and I can honestly say this restaurant is one of the best I’ve ever visited. It’s even better than most Korean restaurants in Korea.

Their Jjamppong is the best I’ve had anywhere—rich, spicy, and full of flavor—and the Mandoo is absolutely perfect.

If you’re looking for authentic Korean taste with exceptional quality, this is the place. Highly recommended!

Kangchon Korean Restaurant, located in Centreville Square II Shopping Center, offers a variety of Korean and Korean-style Chinese cuisines. I visited for lunch; however, the food was unimpressive, lacking notable distinction. For instance, I have experienced superior bibimbap—seasoned vegetables and beef slices over rice, served with a sweet-and-spicy gochujang sauce—at other comparable Korean establishments. The accompanying miso soup was insipid, and the steamed dumplings were mediocre. The service also fell short of expectations—side dishes were not replenished, and the staff did not inquire if additional servings were desired.
Additionally, the chair was sticky and required personal cleaning. The interior featured some Christmas decorations, but the overall ambiance felt outdated. Given the numerous alternatives in the vicinity of Centreville, I am unlikely to revisit this restaurant.

It has been several years since my last visit, and I realized I never had the chance to write a review. The owner is an exceptionally generous and humble individual, and his warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on me. The food is comforting and homely—good, if not exceptional—but the overall experience is enhanced by the owner’s remarkable hospitality. God bless ♥️

Not your Average Joe

Taste like complete trash. Found a hair in one of the dishes. Saw a mouse hole in the side of the wall where I was seated. So disgusting

Kangchon is hands down one of the most authentic Korean restaurants in Centreville, Virginia. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the cozy, no-frills atmosphere that makes it feel like a true neighborhood spot in Korea. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, savory and comforting—just like homemade.

Their side dishes are generous and always well-seasoned, which sets the tone for the meal. The soondubu soft tofu stew and galbi - marinated short ribs - are absolutely outstanding, packed with bold flavors that instantly transport you back to Korea. If you’re craving something hearty, their kimchi jjigae (spicy kimchi stew) and mae-woon-tang (spicy fish stew) as well as ji-ri (white meat fish stew shown in the photo) are excellent choices.

What I love most about Kangchon is its dedication to staying true to traditional Korean cooking. It’s not trendy or watered down—it’s the real deal, the kind of place where Korean families gather for comfort food. Also, don't miss out Koreanized Chinese dishes that often make me feel nostalgic about my old time in Korea.

If you’re looking for authentic Korean cuisine in Northern Virginia, Kangchon is a gem you don’t want to miss.

Stellar food. Lots of takeaways. People don’t understand basic things like jjampong has no rice and has noodle instead. So understand what you order- they serve Korean-grade authentic Korean-Chinese food.

My family and I love Kangchon and it has been our go-to spot for years. The food always comes out piping hot and their service is very good too. We especially love the jam bbong and the jangmyun! We also got the crispy pork and shrimp tang su yook which was amazing per usual. We highly recommend Kangchon and will always come back.
