This place serves the bingsoo the old fashion way using shaved ice whereas other bakery locations serve shaved condensed milk type. Taste is a personal preference but served in more traditional bingsoo with ice can be desirable at times. Younger generations these days may prefer Tou*** or Par*** more and older generations may enjoy more quieter environment for coffee and desserts.
Shilla Bakery is one of the oldest Korean bakeries in the DMV area, with several outlets throughout the region. This location focuses on classic pastries and baked goods rather than the more trendy offerings elsewhere. The selection is solid and reflective of classic recipes, though it may not be considered extraordinary. The interior is spacious and welcoming, albeit with a more understated decor. The service is satisfactory, contributing to an overall pleasant experience.
I recently ordered a chocolate mousse cake for one of my coworkers’s birthdays. I ordered it through the phone and wasn’t expecting much. The presentation and packaging definitely exceeded my expectations. I didn’t get to go in because I had someone else pick it up, but the cake was delicious. This will definitely be a spot our revisit. I am more of a buttercream guy, but the moose was very good.
