The Blue Heron of Charles City is a beautiful restaurant located on the Chickahominy River. The food is excellent, with dishes like Crab Cake Sandwich, Seafood Platter, Shrimp Po boy, and crispy chicken wings receiving high praise. The service is top-notch, with friendly staff providing fantastic service. While the hush puppies were excellent, the steam shrimp were tasty but overcooked, and the slaw needed more spices. The restaurant offers a lovely view by the window and is wheelchair accessible from the parking lot. New management is super friendly, and the building looks amazing. Whether you arrive by boat with nice new docks, by Water Uber, or on a relaxing Sunday afternoon, The Blue Heron is a highly recommended spot for delicious seafood and great service. Some guests noted delays at the hostess station, but the overall experience remains welcoming and enjoyable.
