Exquisite service and food. It is a family oriented restaurant. Bashir himself along with his wife cook up a lot of Mediterranean food. The ambience is superb. We go regularly once a month. I go for the salmon. Superb!!!

We were looking for a nice restaurant with good atmosphere an found it at Bashir's. Their menu of offerings was excellent. Would highly suggest the Chicken Souvlaki! Staff was extremely pleasant and friendly. Outdoor dining looked like an excellent option for a cool evening.

I'm disappointed because I can see the potential. I wonder if the owner is just done. wife and I decided to try Bashir's tavern this Friday. I've heard good things about it. The menu sounded good. nice place. cozy. cool decor. walked in, it was so silent you could hear a pen drop. no music and nobody else inside. we sat in a cozy booth. the waiter brought the menu. it was large...but half of it was just blank pages...odd.. we started with some water, first time I have ever gotten water in a plastic cup, kinda tacky for a restaurant that charges 16 to 18 a plate. anyways...my wife's plate and mine came with the same sides, carrot with cumin salad and potato gratin, different proteins. potato was bland, carrot salad was ok but my 5 year old daughter could cut carrots better. my chicken was cooked nice but it lacked seasoning and they hacked at it and just threw it on the plate, needless to say I make my meals look nicer at home, I kid you not I should have taken a picture. oh did I mention waiter forgot to give us utensils. and never offered some more water. final verdict. it lacks imagination. food is boring and having the same sides for most of the dishes is just lazy. staff lacked training. Cant see myself going back.

I have been to Bashir's for lunch a few times and I loved it. Delicious! The waiters and owner were always very friendly to me. I would recommend the baked salmon with dill sauce. The soup of the day is yummy too - I had bean soup for lunch and it was amazing and super filling.

Spent yet another New Year's Eve at this fun establishment in downtown Charlottesville. Although a rainy and dreary night, once we stepped into Bashir's we were rewarded with warm welcome and a cozy table. The fixed price menu was an excellent selection of Bashir's eclectic mediterranean offerings. The fixed price of $35 included, bread, appetizer, salad, entree and dessert! Such a bargain! I had the vegetarian pie and it was delicious, slightly sweet, but not heavy and was a generous portion. Hubby had the lamb which he enjoyed. Oh and did I mention that the fried potatoes on the side are so yummy? The food and service are definitely at least 4 stars, but I give it 5 stars due to the fabulous LIVE jazz music that was also part of the evening. The local group showcased their musical talents for three solid hours, with several drop-in musicians sitting in on some songs. All ended at 10 pm which was perfect. Dinner, drinks AND jazz --where else in C'ville can you find this? The only thing I would like to see added to the menu here is some type of sparkling white wine, prosecco or cava perhaps.
