A very charming, cozy restaurant. Feels a bit like some in Scotland. The food superb, had the duck confit and lamb dish. Finished off with their sticky toffee pudding which did not disappoint.
Had a great dinner at the C&O with friends last night. Especially liked the duck confit, striped bass and sticky toffee. Always enjoy eating in the downstairs bar.
Overall expensive, good but rich dishes. Interesting ambiance!. A lovely old, nicely appointed building with the light from a huge white Pepsi Cola restaurant sign glaring at you through the front window.
All around spectacular - good service and venue. Definitely a favorite for all in Charlottesville.
The food is excellent. No gimmicks or frills, just really good food, well prepared. parking is a problem.
Wonderful dining experience, we were in town for the weekend and C&O was a great find. Everything from the apps to entrees to dessert, even the bread service was spot on. Highly recommend and would visit again if we are ever in the area again.
This enduring Charlottesville landmark has simple, elegant decor, professional service, and outstanding food. Convenient location at the Downtown Mall.
From the atmosphere, service and amazing food this is my favorite Charlottesville restaurant. All of the appetizers are delicious and the entrees are amazing too. Great selection of bourbons and a unique cocktail menu. Highly recommended,
We were a table of three foodie vegetarians, and though the menu did not offer many specific veg options, our server let us know the chef could easily accommodate vegetarians before we even had to ask. Two of us ordered the superb gnocchi dish, substituting roasted vegetables for crab. The hand-made gnocchi were impressively light and fresh and the accompanying medley of tomatoes, summer squash and various mushrooms tasted perfectly like the weekend's weather: Indian summer giving way to the first chilly days of fall. It could have been boring and bland, but clearly the chef made an effort to prepare something just as delicious as what the menu promised, minus the meat. Portions were perfect -- neither too small, nor too large. Cocktails, wine and desserts were also on point. The whole staff seemed like experienced professionals and we particularly enjoyed chatting with our very gracious waiter. The ambience was elegant but not stuffy, and evoked an intriguing sense of place through a stylish blend of historical architecture and well-curated contemporary landscape paintings. Coming from the DC area, we thought the bill was surprisingly inexpensive. All in all, a great value for a top-notch dining experience in Charlottesville.
Our service was average at best. One of our group said his entree was very good. My wife and I shared several dishes, and asked for our steak to be cooked medium-plus. It came out more rare than medium rare. When we showed our waitress, she simply shrugged and did not offer to cook it more. Very disappointing for the price point.

Everything (food, wine, service, ambiance) is outstanding and you will not be disappointed.
We celebrated our 25th anniversary at C&O last night and it was nothing short of amazing as always! They had our table all ready for us and presented us glasses of champagne upon seating us. They took note that we had spent our 1st anniversary there and accommodated our request to sit at the exact same table. Servers were super attentive even when every table was full on a Tuesday night! The food was perfection and we loved the wine selection as well! 10/10
Absolutely phenomenal experience at C&O in Charlottesville! The food was nothing short of excellent — every dish was crafted with care and full of flavor. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we walked in. The candlelit ambiance added the perfect touch of romance and warmth to the evening. A truly memorable dining experience that's well worth the money.
Food and service were excellent from start to finish. We ordered three appetizers, two entrees and two desserts not a mediocre dish in the bunch. Scallop appetizer and duck confit main were amazing.
Once again, the C&O delivered a great experience. The core menu is embellished with daily specials. The food is well prepared. The service is attentive. Special requests were honored. It does not get better than this.
