I'm a huge fan of Oaxacan cuisine and CONMOLE did not disappoint! The mole guajillo with pork ribs was excellent. My only suggestion would be: if mole is the pride and namesake of the restaurant and serving as a gateway into tasting more of Oaxaca, why isn't mole even more of a star? What is mole, what makes it so complex, and why is it so special to Oaxaca? I know how much work it must take to make your mole pastes - I think there's even more of an opportunity here to share and show off. Could you offer an appetizer tasting flight of your house moles, maybe with some warm tortillas and a quick run-through by the waiter of the key ingredients of each/what they are tradionally served with? I would have ordered that in a heartbeat. Hopefully next time I'm in town, I can try your delicious barbacoa. Thank you so much!

Poor Value, Weak Menu. 2 items not available on a short list.
My chicken with mole sauce was 40 bucks for a thigh and a drumstick in a bowl of mole. A small bowl of rice left me with lots of sauce. I wondered - what am i supposed to do with the rest of this mole, eat it like soup? I didnt like to waste all that mole but truth be told it was not even that special after all the fuss they make over it!
The skinny two of us had a snack and a beer each for 100 dollars. We arrived early like 515 on a thursday and since we had no reso got a tiny two top beside the greeter that shouldnt even be a spot. There were still 80% open tables when we left. The water person tried to tell us to order 3-4 items for two people as they were smaller items and it seemed kind of pushy considering the prices. I guess she was right as it wasnt much food but it was tough to find two things we wanted on the short menu.

This restaurant was an amazing experience. The empanada was delicious. It was baked instead of fried, which allowed the flavor of fresh bread to shine. The mole was unique with a chocolate sauce base that was unique and tasty. The chocolate tres leches was rich and moist with nice rich chocolatey flavor. Staff were friendly and attentive and extremely helpful when choosing what to eat. I would come here again

Ate on the patio since the weather was perfect.
Mole Negro Chicken was novel for me. A chocolate sauce on chicken is an interesting combination.
Guajillo mole costillas is pork ribs in sauce. More conventional.
Both dishes were good in terms of meat and flavor. Portion sizes felt small relative to the price, but I'm glad I had the experience.
Service was attentive and helpful.

Amazing food and the mezcaltini was one of the best cocktails I've had out in a while.

This place has the unmitigated gall to brazenly charge $20 per person if you cancel your reservation or show up late. The restaurant is extremely popular and they would have no trouble filling your table. We will never eat there again with such a venal reservation policy.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the USA. Got to try it.

Real, authentic Mexican food centered around their mole (MO-lay). Really spectacular execution and complementarity in the dishes. A nice place for a lightly upscale casual bite and drinks, in the quaint Belmont neighborhood

If you live in Charlottesville and you don’t have Con Mole at the TOP of your list of amazing restaurants - what are you doing? The fact that other places are “booked solid” every night and this place has a table to spare is wild to me. The food is authentic and SOULFUL with a simple, thoughtful menu that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t have to. Service is always incredible - it feels like a family and working in hospitality for 22 years - that is such an incredible vibe that you can’t fake. Get to Con Mole and thank me later!

Probably our favorite spot in the ville! Great team and service here matched with top notch dishes that will always leaving you satisfied and wanting to come back!
They recommend 2 people start off with 4 entrees to share! This is not listed on their website! Be prepared to pay double for your meal than the menu would suggest. It was ok but you can get much better food at that price range.
On what is sure to be the first of many visits to their covered patio, I had to try the classic mole negro. Our server was kindly informative, even to an ignoramus like myself, so if you’re unfamiliar with Oaxacan food, fear not! The mole negro is served generously—more like a soup than a sauce—and it is not sweet, rather deep, bitter, and spicy. The lamb barbacoa was delicious but I’m happy I ordered the mole negro. I also enjoyed a tamarind margarita, but I wish I enjoyed two (if you know what I mean)! I can’t wait to return to try all the other mole variations.
The Enfrijoladas (no carne) were delicious! Lots of great flavors, especially the beans. My partner liked the Mole Guajillo con carne.
Our server was so friendly and kind, he greeted us immediately as we entered. The interior is beautiful and well designed! We are excited to come back and dine on their patio in the warmer months.
