This was one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have been to. There was a decent variety but the food i had was not good. The General Tso's chicken was very bland and tough like it had been overcooked or had been sitting in the warmer a while. Service was efficient but servers were lacking personality and friendliness. I won't be going back.

Went to East Garden for lunch today. The food was very good. I especially like the shrimp and zucchini, coconut shrimp, glazed mushrooms, and the creamy flounder fish.

The food was like warm???
The food was hard to the point where you couldn't eat it. The noodles was so dry even soy sauce didn't help them.
Told the waitress about it and she kept making up excuses. I been eating here for years this was my worst experience today.

I have been going here since a teenager. Love their food and their sushi bar. Only thing I'd like to see is some more space. And maybe some new options from time to time.
Ordered the lunch special chicken lo mein and it came with a soup & sour soup. The lo mein was average but did have plenty of meat and the soup was delicious. Good portions for the price.
Good variety of food not bad prices

I have never gone to a buffet restaurant that wasn't disgusting. The food at Garden East is fresh and very well prepared; the mixed vegetables, five slice chicken, string beans with garlic sauce, and whole mushrooms with oyster sauce were of homemade quality--deliciius and simple. The pan fried dumplings contain a perfectly respectable pork, ginger, and scallion filling, but the time they spend in the service try reduces the actual wonton leathey and unpleasant. Of course, avoid the sushi and I would not recommend that you eat the large pieces of fried frozen fish sitting in murky liquid. The dessert area offers tiny pieces of tasty chocolate and coconut cakes, but you must avoid the chocolate pudding (because it's tacky to eat pudding in public) and the rock hard lychees.
I want to stress that this is easily the only buffet restaurant I would ever go back to, and if I had to choose between going to Garden East or any of the Chinese of Thai places in Charlottesville, I would pick Garden East every time.
Sharp plastic in their foods. Wasn't even there 10 minutes.
The food is literally disgusting
Customer service was great.
Cheap
I got the general chicken, vegetable fried rice, hot and sour soup. I really must say that it is the worst garbage I’ve ever eaten in my life!! If I could break my foot off in someone butt I would. Never, ever, ever, ever again and I will let any and everyone know not to waste their money on this slop!! I requested duck, soy sauce didn’t receive any or hot mustard. The rice has no egg little corn or oil which is required for FRIED RICE!! This rice has been just steamed. It’s time that they close this down especially if you specialize in Chinese food but cooking American poor dinner meals.
