I had a really disappointing experience at Moge Tee at UVA today (i used to love them otherwise). My friend and I came in after picking up lunch nearby and sat down, intending to purchase drinks as well. However, before we even had the chance to fully settle in, a yellowjacket that was already inside the store (I had seen it on the window beforehand) flew down and started crawling all over me and my belongings. It was a genuinely distressing situation. I didn’t know if I might be allergic, and the insect was about to crawl under my shirt.

Another customer kindly helped get it off me, but it continued crawling on my things, leaving me and my friend unable to safely return to our seats and get my phone to buy. An employee came to check if we were going to purchase a drink so I asked for help dealing with the wasp, and I was interrupted and told that we needed to buy something to sit there. I completely understand that policy, but in that moment, I was dealing with an active situation involving a wasp on my belongings.

When I was able to get my phone to order, I asked again (multiple times) if someone could help remove the wasp. The employee kept responding bluntly by saying that the wasp came in with me, implying it was my fault, which was simply not true. That response was extremely dismissive and unfair, especially given how visibly distressed I was and how other customers may need to deal with an aggressive wasp in a boba store.

To their credit, the wasp was eventually removed, but the lack of empathy and the way the situation was handled left a very negative impression. I would hope for more understanding and basic customer care in situations like this.

Delicious and super friendly staff. Wait times aren't too bad as long as you don't go during lunch rush in the summer time. Other boba stores don't compare in quality from my experience!

I come here all the time and I really like it!! I always get coffee or milk tea with boba and cheese foam… always fresh and tasty… tend to not put much ice even at 100% ice, which is a plus for me. I’ve never had trouble getting a seat inside, but the building is often pretty noisy at opening time/in the afternoons. Parking nearby is difficult but that’s just normal for this part of town. Really really glad to have this shop, such a great treat. :)
