Visiting Charlottesville for the weekend and stumbled upon this hidden gem. As someone who has never dined in tapas fashion, our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with advising us how much food to get. We had carne asada, rock shrimp with an herbal butter sauce, pork/beef/lamb meatballs, and broccolini and roasted potatoes with garlic aioli. Holy cow. Everything was absolutely incredible. All washed down with a pitcher of red sangria, we were utterly stunned and impressed by the end of the meal. Check out Mas’ friendly culinary environment next time you’re in Charlottesville!

Food was awful. Chorizo tasted like someone else’s microwave leftovers. Tuna was underwhelming yet overpriced. Service was slow. Menu was confusing. Very poor experience all around.

One of my favorite restaurants in Cville. Quality food, great cocktails, and fun atmosphere. Indoor seating is limited but worth the wait.

The vibes in this place are amazing. Everyone was very cool and friendly and the food honestly caught me off guard with how delicious it was. Every dish had just the right amount of heat - highly recommended dining experience!

The hostess and staff at Mas went above and beyond to give us a wonderful dining experience. There was a mix up with our reservation but they adjusted quickly to make things right. We had a person who was gluten feee and another person who was a vegetation. They brought specialized menus to accommodate our dietary needs. The food was absolutely delicious, and service was perfect. Every single dish we ordered was a culinary treat. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Charlottesville.

Always quality, but definitely has gone a bit downhill in terms of portions, pricing, and service. I love the roasted tomatoes. However, they short-change customers on a racion portion (it’s not double the taps size, yet twice the price). One major gripe I have is that you cannot place a to-go order. Also, one of the wait staff told me they’re not allowed to box up food. They basically force you to dine-in.

Finally went to Mas for an evening outdoor meal, and it was just okay. The carne asada was good and the shrimp was fine, but all other tapas dishes were kind of mediocre. Our group of 4 agreed that food was generally lacking in care, spicing and presentation. You order anchovies, and that's what you get on a plate -- nothing else, no bread, garnish or anything. It would have been good to provide bread with this dish or for that matter at least the waitstaff should recommend bread (which has to be paid for). The staff tried and were friendly but it was a bit scattered feeling. Last, the pitcher of sangria was rather disappointing -- seemed watered down, little alcohol, no fruit, or any garnish (again, lacking in care). Unfortunately, we won't be going again.

By far one of the top 3 restaurants in CVille. Sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen is definitely the best seat in the house. However when we went the guy working at the end of the kitchen was chewing on his fingers, on his phone and in and out of gloves all night long as well as his fingers in his hair and face. We are restaurant people. The fact it was not called out was upsetting. We didn't let it bother us, as we even tipped the kitchen because it was so enjoyable to watch them pump that food out and maintain such poise and discipline.

In town for top secret business w my wife. We do secret stuff. The food was incredible. We ordered 4 items. Some potatoes w harissa and crème some chicken w rice a cheese and salami thing and something w artichoke. Everything was great. I usually hate sitting at the bar but we didn’t have reservations so hey what can you expect. It was so good. Can’t say enough great things

Had a great meal here yesterday. Didn’t have a reservation so we went early and had no problem sitting at the bar. The far end of the bar overlooked the tiny kitchen so we got to watch the show.
The food tasted great, the portions were huge for the price and service from the bar staff was superb. Can’t wait to go back.

Great atmosphere. My favorite dishes are the dates wrapped in bacon, the artichokes, and the carne asada (stake), which is delicious.
However, it is too expensive for the quality provided. I also had two instances in which the staff was rude to us. In one instance, they made fun of my accent— not cool
