This was not just lunch but an experience. Our server told us history of the tavern and the owner. Lunch was delicious. The gift shop was just lovely! My new favorite is their stewed tomatoes! Can’t wait to return!
I csme here on vacation. We visited Monticello and on our way out, we stopped here. I can't remember the last time I ate in a restaurant that is nearly 200 years old. The food was really great! I enjoyed myself. Recommend this place to anybody visiting VA.
Stepped back in time to dine at the Tavern. We were greeted at the door and instructed to go thru the buffet line. Grabbed a seat in the historic dining room and shortly after a server asked if we wanted more of anything. I said Yes, chicken please! She brought me 2 more pieces of the best fried chicken I've ever had! A few surrounding buildings with some history about them and a fairly large gift shop rounded out our stop.
